This is a spiny orb-weaver spider. One of its colloquial names is Star Spider. Tiny and pretty, it always wears a smiling face!

I was busy taking photographs of the art when I turned around and these adorable faces were staring at me. One asked "Are you a photographer?" They were being so quiet I hadn't heard them enter the room. I asked the woman with them if I could take their picture, and in my haste to capture them just as they were I didn't get the settings right. But they are just too cute to not post. Few more snowy images before the white memories melt away. A blast of cold weather from the East left everything under snow again and with plenty pretty wintry scenes. Botanical garden. Royal Victoria Park in Bath, England, UK
It's interesting this species belongs to Euphaedra genus, but with the upperside marking unlike most other Euphaedra species and the underside similar to some Bebearia species.
Anyway, the upperside marking is really unique and pretty - look like a smiling face.
There are two similar species in this area. They can be distinguished by the underside in general: Euphaedra harpalyce has uniform green underside and Euphaedra eupalus additionally has white discal spots.
This beauty is tolerant of degraded forests, so is a common species, which can be found in lowland forests and secondary forests, even in gardens and plantations.
Again, they are forest floor butterflies and attracted to fermenting fruits.

Well, if that doesn't make you smile, then I can't be responsible. I love the smiling face on this sunny yellow sports car, parked on the street in our area of West Vancouver, BC. Notice the little duckie on the dashboard inside, as well as a hanging little bunny. I wonder if this is a Mom's car? I always loved yellow cars myself.
One of 218 giant, smiling faces that cover the towers of the Bayon Temple in Angkor Thom. Built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII, the Bayon stands at the center of Jayavarman's capital, Angkor Thom. After Jayavarman's death, it was modified and augmented by later Hindu and Theravada Buddhist kings in accordance with their own religious preferences.
"The Bayon's most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces on the many towers which jut out from the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak.[3] The temple has two sets of bas-reliefs, which present a combination of mythological, historical, and mundane scenes. The main conservatory body, the Japanese Government Team for the Safeguarding of Angkor (the JSA) has described the temple as "the most striking expression of the baroque style" of Khmer architecture, as contrasted with the classical style of Angkor Wat (Khmer: ប្រាសាទអង្គរវត្ត"
I BUMPED INTO THEM ON MY MORNING WALK IN THE PARQUE DE MARÍA LUISA. I TOOK A PHOTO OF THEM WITH THEIR CAMERA AND THIS PHOTO WITH MY CAMERA: AFTER I HAD ARRIVED HOME I THOUGHT TO MYSELF BY THE WAY THEY WERE DRESSED THAT THEY COULD BE A GROUP OF SINGERS. IF ANY OF MY FRIENDS IN THE USA RECOGNISE THEM IT WOULD INTERESTING TO KNOW.

It has become an iconic part of the Sydney landscape.
Luna Park's slogan is Just For Fun and that is how it has been since its opening on 4th October 1935.
Whilst Luna Park itself is iconic the park is unique due the 9-metre-wide (30 ft) smiling face which has become an icon in its own right.

The Bayon Temple was built in the late 12th or early 13th century A.D. by Jayavarman VII, one of the Khmer Empire’s greatest kings .The Bayon Temple served as the state temple of Jayavarman’s new capital, Angkor Thom. It is unique in that it was the only state temple built primarily as a Mahayana Buddhist shrine dedicated to the Buddha.
The Bayon's most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces. The similarity of the 216 gigantic faces on the temple's towers to other statues of the king has led many scholars to the conclusion that the faces are representations of Jayavarman VII himself. Others have said that the faces belong to the bodhisattva of compassion called Avalokitesvara or Lokesvara. Whatever, the curious smiling image, captures everyone's attention and has been dubbed by some, the "Mona Lisa of Southeast Asia."
I hope this will cheer everyone up a bit as we all continue to be inundated with depressing news about the Covid-19 virus around the world.

The Temptations - Smiling Faces Sometimes
Smiling faces sometimes pretend to be your friend
Smiling faces show no traces of the evil that lurks within
Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes
They don't tell the truth uh
Smiling faces, smiling faces
Tell lies and I got proof
The truth is in the eyes
Cause the eyes don't lie, amen
Remember a smile is just
A frown turned upside down
My friend let me tell you
Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes
They don't tell the truth, uh
Smiling faces, smiling faces
Tell lies and I got proof
