Oh how I hated doing this. There are so many things I would have done in post-processing to make it look better, but I wasn't allowed to.

I tried this selfie today for Smile on Saturday. :) The tiny camera and the word “SMILE!” are stickers on the mirror used as a reminder to be gentle whenever we look at ourselves. ♡
Anyway, it was late afternoon when I took this, and I was quickly running out of light, which is why the ISO is so high. (I also added a little grain in PP.) I didn’t have enough time to experiment with aperture, so I might try a less blurry version of me another day. :) Thank you for looking! xo

Slender Ringtail Damselfly (Austrolestes analis)
In the garden today. I was actually trying (chasing) to get a shot of the first Blue Ringtail I have seen this season, I failed but this one posed nicely for me.
I am way behind today, I have finally succumbed to the cold that has been going through the family. Thankfully it seems I have a minor dose of it.
I will catch up as I can.

#MacroMondays
#White
It is strange how white changes with the light coming in from the windows and what is reflected from the things around the little macro scene... Technically, this is white velcro photographed against a dull white foam sheet, illuminated from above with my natural light photo lamp and the sunshiny light from the windows. I had an image finished yesterday but used the velcro strips as you would use it in real life: with the hook side and fuzzy loop side. But it looked somewhat weird with the fuzz. So I decided to start all over again and use two sides with the numerous tiny hooks. To make the "mouth" as small as possible, I cut two thin Velcro strips (about 1 cm / 0,39 inches wide) and stuck them together. The width of the scene is 2 cm / 0,78 inches.
The hooks had turned out better in the image I took yesterday because I was able to get closer to them with the Laowa 2x macro lens but I wanted the entire mouth shape in the frame so I decided to sacrifice magnification for shape and re-photographed the scene with the 30mm macro lens that has 1.25x magnification but also has the focus stacking ability which the all manual Laowa lens doesn't have. The camera was set to in-camera focus stacking (15 ORFs and JPGs) but I put the ORFs into Helicon Focus and combined them there (method C, radius 1) because Helicon allows better DOF control.
HMM, Everyone!
Today is NATIONAL SMILE POWER DAY
On June 15th each year, National Smile Power Day shares one powerful expression.
When you smile at someone, you are telling them that they are valued and worth the smile that you just gave them. Smiles are morale boosters and confidence builders.
Give them a SMILE today.................
