South African Foxglove (Ceratotheca triloba)
A very common wild flower in the area, but one of the worst smelling I am aware of, not only the flower, but the whole plant. Grows up to a few meters high.

Due to the hot weather, durians are harvested in great quantity. Makeshift stalls spring all over Singapore selling the King of fruits. There are many grades of the fruit, the fruit is sold by weight or quantity.
With the CDC voucher given out by the government, every Singaporean can eat this fruit FOC.

I found this odd looking cat today. It smells a little funny, but it's so cute and cuddly, I'm going to keep it! - Cute skunk looking into the camera.
This image is of a Creosote bush (or tree), photographed while hiking in the Sonoran Desert. I played around with various approaches to the photographing of this interesting plant, and finally ended up with this one. For those who might wonder why I bothered, I've provided information about this fascinating plant below. Like most of us, there's more to it than meets the eye.
Larrea tridentata is called "creosote bush" and "greasewood" as a plant,"chaparral" as a medicinal herb, and "gobernadora" (Spanish for "governess") in Mexico, due to its ability to secure more water by inhibiting the growth of nearby plants. In Sonora, it is more commonly called "hediondilla,", Spanish for "smelly," because of the oily odour it emits.
The Creosote bush is most common on the well-drained soils of alluvial fans and flats. In parts of its range, it may cover large areas in practically pure stands, though it often occurs in association with Ambrosia dumosa (burro bush or bur-sage). Much of their relationship remains unexplained.
Creosote bush stands tend to display an evenly spaced distribution of plants. Originally, it was assumed that the plant produced a water-soluble inhibitor that prevented the growth of other bushes near mature, healthy bushes. Now, however, it has been shown that the root systems of mature creosote plants are simply so efficient at absorbing water that fallen seeds nearby cannot accumulate enough water to germinate, effectively creating dead zones around every plant.
Mature plants, however, can tolerate extreme drought stress. Water loss is reduced by the resinous waxy coating of the leaves, and by their small size.
Plants drop some leaves heading into summer. Accumulation of fallen leaves, as well as other detritus caught from the passing wind, creates an ecological community specific to the creosote bush canopy, including beetles, millipedes, pocket mice, and kangaroo rats.
I knew that this field of barley had recently been cut and thought I'd venture back to this spot to get a decent stubble shot. However that brown colour is not all golden stubble as the farmer had just sprayed the field with copious amounts of muck. Actually they are so ridiculous that I do like them, maybe not enough to wear them but I honestly do.
Macro Mondays. Smell
Smelly the Skunk has decided to sit on a dahlia thinking that it will make him smell better.
As trying to keep refrigerator running, I still can't cook or cool the house as hurricane force winds and tornadoes continue to sweep across the USA leaving us powerless.
To make matters worse N. Texas power provider Oncor, reports there are NO POWER OUTAGES REPORTED! You would expect someone else would also keep reporting it! lol.
I was away in Derbyshire for a wedding this weekend. These 3 pigs lived at the bed and breakfast we stayed at - it was also a working farm. They were very cute even if a bit smelly!
