………Lip smacking, Nose twitching Toasted Spelt bread - a little well done especially for the photo shoot (honest), I have this for tea every day along with homemade vegetable soup. Always smells delicious so perfect for Macro Monday’s theme of “Smell” and looking deliciously like the two pieces are kissing! HMM, Alan:-)…….

In the warmth of the bush, a mother gorilla holds her baby close. After a long day searching for food, she kisses him with boundless energy, as if to give him all her love and protection.
This simple yet powerful gesture shows how sacred the bond between a mother and her child is, even in the heart of the wild !

The Iowa Northern smacked a large crane at the crossing at Mona Jct the day before. The accident put all 3 units and a bunch of coal cars in the ditch. The IANR was on their way to deliver coal at Cedar Falls when the driver of the crane never saw the train. He was lucky to walk away with minor injuries. The IANR didn't do as well, as 2 of 3 units (1894/2492) never ran again. This happened on the CCP trackage rights that the IANR uses, so they cleaned up the mess. Now trains are back running the next day. Here an eastbound slowly passes by the wreckage.
Scanned negative from 9-25-92.

During her lifetime she has had a number of owners and been used for different purposes. She has been restored on various occasions due to accidents and neglect. and is no longer used as a commercial fishing boat.

This suet log seems to be a favorite "go to" feeder for the Red-bellied Woodpeckers. Multiple times a day we'll spot a male or female on this little feeder, gobbling up the suet as fast as they can.
And as you can see from this female's expression, that suet is lip smacking good!
Talking Smack - Anna's Hummingbird doing some territorial calling.
While most hummingbirds are relatively tolerant around these parts, this little guy was one of the most unperturbed hummingbirds I've ever photographed. I suppose over the span of a couple years, I unintentionally walked past him hundreds of times when looking for Bobcats and he got acclimated to my presence. A friend and I got images within a few inches of him and found it comical that such a small bird was so unfazed by two humans with big lenses in front of him.

This photo turned out to be more about the tree which somehow planted itself smack mid-photo. Just happened to be driving back from my son's driving test (he passed!) and had to do a u-ey for this immense barn. My son was kind enough to only mutter a little under his breath at this delay in letting all his friends know the good news ;)
Barn has plaque at top with the year "1910" hammered out in large holes through the metal. Nearly all the outbuildings are built with this same odd striped style...
