Tis the season for Bald Eagles. My count for the year (before March is out) is over 380!

Enjoyed a nice morning out at Crex Meadows this morning. Not super active, but seeing 3 wolves, 2 shirked, and some Sharp-tailed Grouse was satisfying.

For the second night in a row, the heavens opened up. This time, I am beginning to recognize a pattern. I love auroras that are well-defined with brilliant curtains, and I have seen enough now to recognize that they typically come strong in these times out of times of soft, diffuse bands of lights across the sky. I saw it some last night, and tonight, I was just about to turn in when I saw this and decided to look for another location to shoot from. So glad I did. I found a pigeon barn on the outskirts of town on the side of the road. I set up my camera, and started getting shots of the auroras with the barn in the foreground. Soon, the heavens opened up, just as I predicted. WELL worth the extra time out tonight.

Pulled over to watch this porcupine waltz across the highway. So cool.

The SM7 was based on the Nissan Teana, it was sold here between 2006 and 2013. It was offered with a 2.3 or a 3.5 liter engine, both V6

Nearly kicked this fella this morning as I was hiking the Ice Age Trail. I was looking down (at my steps) and failed to see him on the trail until I was within 6 feet of him. He startled, which startled me. He stepped to the edge of the trail as I watched him for a bit before he slowly worked back into the underbrush, watching me as he went.

A sweet find as I had spent a good bit of time in prayer while hiking and this encounter brought such a smile to my face.

A phenomenal Geomagnetic Storm last night. This is the best storm I have seen in the States to date (after 23 years of watching).

One bird I have been hoping to get better shots of this summer has been the Red-headed Woodpecker. I was driving to my house, when I spotted this guy at eye level on a tree in my neighbor's yard. I grabbed my camera, and before I knew it, I not only found the bird, but discovered its nest in a snag right next door! Pretty stoked about that.

I have in my imagination a "perfect" scene of pure Aspen trunks, so I am ever trying to capture better pics of the stands in the park.

Had another sweet encounter with a Great Grey Owl at a friend's acreage today. We saw the owl fly past while hiking in their spruce woods, then when we got back to the yard, I was searching the treeline along the edge of the yard for the bird, only to realize it was in a small spruce not 30 feet from me!

While out driving around Crew Meadow for some much neglected nature time of late, and to spend some time away in prayer, I had a great time seeking the Lord.

I was frustrated to see wolf tracks along the dyke roads, and even some weasel tracks leading into a hole on the side of the road, yet no mammals visible to photography. These two in particular have been on my bucket list for some time now.

I chose not to get upset about the seeming tease, trusting God would bless me in His time.

On my drive away from Crex Meadows, I spotted this Northern Shrike on a powerline who was considerate enough to let me drive right up underneath him to get these shots.

Nice.

This little gem is under 1 inch in leg span, and won't get much bigger. But it is such a beauty.

Revisiting my pics of American White Pelicans from this summer at Prince Albert National Park. In I am playing with darker exposures to see how they look.

Constructive criticism is appreciated.

After moving south to Wisconsin 3 years ago, I have enjoyed better northern lights displays that much of the 12 years I lived in Canada. This weekend was no exception. lights filled the sky and gave some magnificent colors, columns, and curtains.

One of my favourite Woodpeckers, this one showed up at our annual camp meeting and afforded me some nice shots.

Here is the Moon setting with Venus not far behind. And the spire to the right is (I believe), not aurora, but a STEVE sighting.

These otters popped up from a hole in the ice just 20 feet from me at the Narrows in Prince Albert National Park in Saskatchewan Canada.
