Hope, the neighborhood cat was kind enough to make an appearance while I was experimenting with some high speed video (240fps).

Slow motion video shot at 320 frames per second.

Before escaping the teeming crowds of the Americana, I stopped long enough to get this video shot of the fountain. This time I did it at night, because there was enough illumination coming from the lights to make it work.

And you can see people wearing masks. So not everyone was taking a chance by going without one.

Hedgehog, magpies and squirrel: Animal interaction in slow motion (part I). It is much easier to notice the interaction between animals when watched in slow motion. This is possible because Sony FDR-X1000V records in 120fps HD. Hyvinkää, Finland. 19.7.2017

Shot at 960 fps, played back at 24. Three seconds in the life of a hummingbird.

Just catching up on some videos and photos I took a short while back.

I thought this view of the fountain in slow motion with the Gucci store in the background worked for me.

If you have seen my 2021 Christmas video, you've seen this shot -- sort of. I shot it in both time-lapse and in slow motion. Since there was no place to put it in the video (it was meant to all be time-lapse shots), I'll put it here as a standalone piece. You can either watch it with the sound on, or watch it with the sound on mute. It works either way.

And you can see Santa's House to the right, so this shot was done on January 6. This was done with the Motorola moto g 5G phone camera.

While this phone camera shoots slow motion in only 1280x720, the lens doesn't "breathe" when I shoot something this way, so there is at least that advantage.

But I did grab this at the right time of day, so that helps a lot too.

I decided to go ahead and do another slow motion shot of the fountain and statue, but I ended up not using it in my video. The piece worked totally in time-lapse,

It's probably better to watch this without sound, as it is just the live sound I recorded slowed down as well.

Slow motion video of the fountain paint pots in Yellowstone National Park. Shot at 480 fps and played back at 30. The Sony RX10-iii makes it easy to do this.

One more time, but this time twenty times slower than real life. (The RX-10 can also do 40x slow motion, but the degradation of video quality -- in the hands of an amateur like me, at least -- makes it not worth the effect.)

I'll upload one final video to close out this slow motion series in a few days.

Slow motion video of the Fountain Paint Pots at Yellowstone National Park

Here’s some video from my Sony RX10 iii. This camera has a 24-600 zoom range with essentially the same image quality as my RX100 iii, which goes 24-70. It also has much better video capability, on par with the RX100 iv. I know, it’s confusing.

In this clip I shot a little mountain stream at 30 fps, then at 240 and finally at 480. The camera will go to 960. In these slo-mo modes, you can only shoot a few seconds of video. But this will stretch out time-wise when played back at 30 fps. One neat thing is that you can record video of what already happened before you press the button. This is possible because the camera buffers the stream. It makes it very easy to capture interesting stuff that you knew was about to happen but didn’t know when.

I’m very happy with this camera.

Google Pixel 2 _ slow motion video 240 fps

Slow motion video (shot at 240 fps) of sandhill cranes landing at Bosque del Apache, using the HFR function on the RX 10-iv.

It was getting dark and I accidentally underexposed it, so I think the camera can do better than this.

I shot this video shortly after I shot the still of the family standing by the edge of the fountain. You can see it on my photostream. It worked out pretty well, and I'm sure it would work well with the right piece of music behind it. But I'll save that for another time.

This video was shot with my Motorola Moto g 5G phone camera, shooting 1280x720 HD in slow motion mode.

As I approach the last of my still photos of this year's Renaissance Faire, I thought I would include this bit of video, shot in slow motion (in 1280x720, not full HD, unfortunately) showing one of many rides one can have fun on. I picked the wrong moment, getting this while the sun was behind some clouds.

This was shot using my Motorola Moto g5 5G smartphone.

And not just video, slow motion video. I decided to shoot only slow motion video at the Faire, if I were to shoot anything at all. For that I used my smartphone, my Motorola Moto g 5G.

I thought I had missed it at first, but then it turned out the guy got another shot at trying to hit the puck (or whatever it was) hard enough to hit the bell. He did.

Living Space (by John Coltrane).

Newstead Abbey, the home of Lord Byron, has some great romantic water features. I decided to experiment with the slow motion facility on my Sony RX10 M3 to capture them. I made several errors, but that's all part of the learning process, so I'm sharing them anyhow! The first cascade is in the Japanese garden. The second is nearer the Abbey. You can walk to a little room behind the water curtain of the cascade. Two of the clips are from there. Now, I wonder what that secluded space got used for ;-)

After I shot video of the trolley, I went over to the huge TV screen to get some video, but there was just one image showing. I decided to do some slow motion of the people walking by. But suddenly the image changed, and it appeared everyone was walking towards me, as if it were a Michael Bay shot. It would have worked better if the guy on the left of the frame had exited on the left, otherwise his exiting on the right kept the shot overexposed too long. And then the big guy who was putting on his jacket hung out on the right of the frame. I didn't want to move the camera, hoping he'd eventually move out of the frame. He didn't. But at least the first part of the shot worked out.

Magpie landing from ground level in slow motion. This one was recorded from ground level with Sony FDR-X1000V action camera. The original cut in realtime is 14 second and is here saved in slow motion with 25% speed. Hyvinkää, Finland. 22.7.2017

Sony A7III S&Q Mode 100fps

The first half of this slow motion shot is the most interesting. I kept shooting until I realized the water wasn't shooting up again right away.

Where I stood to take this shot is now closed off to people who did not make reservations to have their kids talk to Santa. In other words, this is where they would be standing in line. So I'm glad I went on Thanksgiving to shoot stills and video.

U.S. Military Veterans are the backbone of our country and deserve all the respect & honor that is given to them and much, much more! While today & tomorrow (November 10 & 11) are 'set aside' to honor our Veterans, this is a gesture that should be a part of our American fabric where these proud men & women are celebrated daily as we encounter them in our day-to-day lives. Find a Veteran today, tomorrow, or any day of the year and thank them for their sacrifices and for the freedom that we enjoy to keep this wonderful flag seen above flying...thank you!

Slo-mo video of the American Flag was captured with my Samsung Galaxy S21.

Here is another example of me using my Motorola g5 5G phone to shoot slow motion video. The girl was properly harnessed in, and the attendant simply gave her a boost, and she did the rest.

Squirrel and magpies in slow motion (part I). It is easier to see how wild animals interact in slow motion. Original was filmed with Sony FDR-X1000V 120fps HD. The speed is reduced to 25%. Hyvinkää, Finland. 19.7.2017

Taken at the Florida Botanical Gardens, Largo Florida.

Video was taken with a Sony A6500 with a Canon 60mm Macro Lens.

Filmed at 120 fps, x5 slow motion, 4k rendered down to 1080 for viewing.

Note: Sorry - the video was trimmed by Flicker, 12 second before the end.

For the first time since shooting pictures of Atlanta Peachtree Road Rollers' Sunday afternoon events in Piedmont Park, I decided to shoot some video, in addition to the stills - specifically, slow-mo video. I was mostly experimenting and most of the video clip keepers were of Trenter Bugg (Parker). A surprise capture was that of some cool dance moves (51 seconds in) by Cindy Spalding and her husband, Paul. Once home, editing the clips, I quickly thought of a great piece of music to go with the finished video. It's "Empty Drama" by Les Jumeaux. It is one of many pieces I've discovered on XM's Spa channel over the years. (see my FB note ).

Remember the still photo I posted showing people walking past the Sprinkles stand? This is the video version of it. I decided to shoot in slow motion, mostly to see if the lens would "breathe" like my camera on my other phone would do. It did adjust for exposure, when people walked in and out of the shot, but that's the auto-iris for you.

This new phone shoots slow motion only in 1280x720 HD, so it's not full HD, as my previous phone was. It also doesn't record sound. But the picture quality does make up for those two shortcomings.

Hedgehog scratching in slow motion. I managed to reduce the speed of original 120fps HD Sony FDR-X1000V video to 25% in Adobe Premiere. Nice one to see more clearly what happens.

Squirrel and hedgehog: we act in slow motion. I made the easiest slow motion in Adobe Premiere to cut short section and apply 25% speed to it and saved as 30fps HD. The original was shot with Olympus TOUGH TG-5 120 fps HD. Hyvinkää, Finland. 17.7.2017

Slow motion video - Is that a baby bird being taken away ?

Here is a vertical shot of people walking in slow motion at the Americana, in front of the AMC multiplex. I shot this at the same time as I did the other vertical shots of the area. Something about this worked for me, so I am sharing it here.

This was also shot with the Motorola Moto g 5G phone, shooting at 1280x720 HD.
