Travelling back from Anglesey yesterday lead us through wonderful North Welsh countryside since we tried to avoid the motorways at all cost and as long as possible. Following the quieter Welsh B roads was such a fabulous treat for eyes and mind!

No flowers or mountain views today, just a shot that for some reason I happen to like a lot. I was wading out about knee-deep in the lake water when a boat sped by, ignoring the slowdown area in front of the beach park and creating a significant wake. As the waves from that rolled into shore I (and my camera) got significantly wetter than I had planned!
This mallard duck however, just rolled and bobbed with the waves, as ducks do, enjoying the clear blue waters of the lake.
Lake Chelan is the deepest lake in Washington and the third deepest in the U.S. (after Crater Lake and Lake Tahoe), reaching 1486 feet/453 meters at the deepest point. It's not very wide, but is over 50 miles long. The most northern part of the lake reaches up to Stehekin and the North Cascades, while the southern part (where this photo was taken) is heavily used for water recreation.

The pilot tender of the Belgian Pilotage Service "Pieter de Coninck" has brought the sea pilots aboard the two sea giants sailing in the background and is sailing back to the pilot harbour of the town of Flushing (Vlissingen)
The aluminimum hull is designed in such a way that operations can continue up to a wind force of 8 Beaufort at a wave height of 2,5 to 4 meters.
The ship is propelled by 2 jet foils and has a high course stablity and maneuverability so that the pilot can board the ship to be piloted in complete safety, without the ship having to slow down.
The cruising speed of this pilot tender is 28 knots ( 50 km per hour)
This is especially true here in the USA. Even before COVID-19 people have been forced to work too many hours, taking away precious time from family, and now with COVID-19 they are expected to work even more and longer hours and have their children at home 24/7. Isn't it time to find a balance, yes, work is important, but family is important as well. We must find a solution, this has to be destroying our families. There are many people without work surely some of them could take on the extra hours people are working. We have so many brilliant minds in this country, surely a group could come up with a reasonable work schedule for all. We are in a spin of new things to sort out with COVID-19, let's put family right up there together with work!

The clouds were moving swiftly on this windy day, so I decided to try a long exposure using my ND filter. This isn’t exactly what I envisioned, but I think there is a sense of movement in the clouds (at least I hope you see that too).
Only a week until Halloween. Isn’t that crazy? I remember last Halloween like it was only yesterday...

I wasn't able to shoot many of Santa Fe's SD26's in action due in part to them being the first engines stored during a business slowdown and the last engines activated when business picked up.
I was very fortunate then to catch a quartet of them on a Westbound train at Fullerton, CA in August of 1984!
The Santa Fe #4650 was later sold to the Guilford/Springfield Terminal and became their #633.

And honestly, it is unbelievable how fast time goes, suddenly winter is here again, and the first snow has already fallen here.
Another year has passed and is almost behind us. But that is what makes the first snow so meaningful: it reminds us to pause, breathe, and step into the next chapter with a calmer, softer heart.
