I spent a good amount of time watching this young male "crusing" the branches of a cecropia tree. At moments, the sloth would find the aztec ants very annoying as they came out from the hollow trunk to defend their home but it was a bit controvertial in my mind as I red long ago that these ants does not bother the mammal as this one, by feeding on the leaves would in crease the potential of the tree to produce more leaves which in turn would benefit the ants as the older leaves would be where the tree develops the mullerian bodies, which are the ones who produce sugary secretions that the ants feed on and is their payment for looking after the tree.
In any case, the sloth moved fast , for a mammal like this, and was pretty active feeding on the young leaves and buds the tree produce.
This one was captured with a Canon 5D3 and a 600f/4, full frame image with minor tweaks in PS. Thanks for looking.
Many thanks for your comments, faves, and follows :)

Marcel (sleeping on the job), with the 'Three Fates' (from left to right):
1. Clotho (the spinner), spinning the thread of life.
2. Lachesis (the allotter), measuring the length of thread allocated to each person.
3. Atropos (the executioner), with her scissors, constantly cutting that thread.
Deadly Sin number 7: Sloth.

This is a 3-toed sloth - or more accurately a "3-fingered" sloth since both the "2-toed" and the "3-toed" sloths have 3 toes on the hind feet. It looks like she's cuddling a baby so apparently she mustered enough energy for procreation.

In many language they call this animal lazy (in English Sloth)
But I think hanging from a branch is actually a real workout!
I can't even hang like that for 2 minutes!! Haha! How about you? ;)

I really wish that I had an even greater dynamic range for the sensor of my camera so that I could capture both the dark balcks of the coat and the sunlit highlights.
This model features a Miniland figure of a young actor, holding his script, alongside a sloth! It was designed as a commission. The oddest commissioned projects are sometimes the most fun!
The sloth uses Demogorgon claws and short lengths of flex tube for the eyes. The actor uses one of my favorite styles of Miniland figure construction, utilizing brackets to make a figure between 2 and 3 studs wide.

a guide spotted this sleepy young sloth, so instead of seeing him hanging on a dark spot hanging on a tree, I was only a few feet away from him

It took me a while to figure out which sin I was going to feature. Then tonight, after a day out and a birthday party I was so happy to be at home again, wearing my cozy fluffy cat socks and I realised which sin suits me better. Nothing like lazyness after a busy day ^_^

The Sloth Bear (Melursus ursinus) is a myrmecophagous bear species native to the Indian subcontinent. It feeds on fruits, ants and termites. It is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, mainly because of habitat loss and degradation.[1]
It has also been called labiated bear because of its long lower lip and palate used for sucking insects.[
