#2 of Tokyo Street Photography Week

The last of my night stuff from Florida for the time being is Y295 street running down Polk street in downtown Tampa enroute to Cargill with loaded corn Syrup cars. The massive Go Bucs Slogan was too much to fit into the shot I was trying for.

A cool place to hang out and a great burger. If it's good enough for Liz and Elvis, it's good enough for me. Happy Wall Wednesday!

The Kaffal Schaschi mausoleum (Qaffol Shoshiy maqbarasi) is a tomb in Tashkent which was built for the imam Abu Bakr Kaffal Schaschi late in 926 A.D. Today the grave is not received any more. The Kaffal Schaschi mausoleum joins to the south immediately the complex of the Barak-Chan-Medresse.

The mausoleum, as well as it today looks, became from Gulam Husain, the architect of the Khans in 1542 A.D. built. In the 19th century the mausoleum was altered. It is an asymmetrical mausoleum with several domes and a main entrance (Hanaka). Such Hanakas were often built for travellers.

To the south of the main building, in a court, there are later tombs (Sagana). Beside the mausoleum a house is in the Chodscha Ahrori-vali lived. He was a follower of Kaffal Schaschi and Baha ud dinar of Naqschband and took the view that religious people may never beg. They should earn themselves money. He kept to Naqschbands election slogan: „Dil Ba eru dast Ba chor“ what means so much such as „the heart with God, the arms at the work.“

This Dutch sentence was an advertising slogan for healthy sweets.

Finger-licking food (apparently) at this fish restaurant on the beach. Most of the restaurants and bars there were daubed with Christian and/or Rastafarian slogans.

It is cool to see this slogan on the street at Male, Maldives. Open L to see the wordings as I found it is cute.

Union Pacific SD40-2 No. 3701 rests between assignments in Provo, Utah on Dec. 12, 1980. The unit wears a 30 x 98.5” metal sign, designed to promote fuel conservation. There were 15 different slogans used at the time, all mounted on newer UP SD40-2 locomotives.

Still wearing its factory delivered EMD paint, with the obsolete 'Dependable Transportation' slogan, DD35A No. 81 and DD35 No. 83B have been serviced and await assignment at Provo Yard on Oct. 7, 1977. At this point in time, two of the original 15 DD35A units wore factory paint, the other was No. 71.

There is a small sculpture garden in front of the Kennedy Center with gifts from several nations. The bronze relief America by Jurgen Weber was a gift from West Germany in 1969.

The relief represent the artist's different images of America. Shown here, from left to right are: free speech (the five nude males debating), technology (car bumpers with teeth); consumerism (skyscrapers with slogans and oversized eyes, lips and heads).

The slogan of the Eastern Idaho State Fair seemed like an appropriate title for this image of what was voted the fair's most fun ride.

In retrospect, I should of opened up the aperture from f6.3 to f3.2 or even f2.8 to get a higher shutter speed and avoid some of the motion blurring. I think I was so concerned about how the D800 would do at ISO 6400 that I forgot everything else. In the end my fears were unfounded. While there was some noise, it was certainly manageable.

Dinamarca - Jelling

Jelling is located in Vejle municipality and Region of Southern Denmark. The town is mainly famous for the Jelling stones, national monuments. Until the Municipal Reform of 2007 on 1 January 2007, Jelling was the capital of Jelling municipality. Jelling was also the only town in the former Vejle County headquarters for a bank – Jelling Sparekasse, which had its headquarters in the town until 2007 when it merged with Den Jyske Sparekasse, headquartered in Grindsted. Jelling Sparekasse's slogan was: "If king Gorm was alive today ... we would probably be the country's National Bank." One source at least claims that Jelling was the capital of an ancient kingdom of Denmark that was known as Jellund.

Jelling is an old and important historical town in the history of Denmark. In the Viking Age it served as the royal seat of the first Monarchs of the Kingdom of Denmark. Jelling is the site of a large stone ship and two large burial mounds, the Jelling stones and Jelling Church which are an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. In the North Mound, built between 958 and 959 CE (possibly for King Gorm of Denmark), an empty burial chamber was found. The South Mound was built around 970 and contains no burial. Beneath the two mounds is a large stone ship from around the end of the 9th century. Between the two mounds stands two rune stones, the Jelling stones. Near the stones, Gorm's son King Harald Bluetooth built a wooden church (965), and beneath it reinterred (965–966) the remains of his father.
