T357 and Y145 slog out of Kilmore East with the El Zorro Tocumwal freight. The train was running push pull due to a closure of the Bendigo Line between Albion and the City. This was the only time I managed to photograph this train before the collapse of El Zorro.
After a grinding slog through the forest, we finally found good fishing. Next time we’ll know to stick to the main trail!
This small stream flows into Rawson Lake. I hopped across rocks to get to its banks, trying very hard to avoid trampling the vegetation. Even in summer it was a bit chilly — as you can see we’re level with snow, still unmelted in the shadow of the mountain.

Yesterday we both remarked, while slogging through a fitness excursion at the trail park, that the yellow wildflowers were exceptionally exuberant and plentiful right now, and lamented that we didn't have nice cameras with us. Then we realized something crazy -- we could come back to the park without the intent of running. We could just park near the flowery part, stroll in, take pictures, and stroll out! Who ever thought of such a thing??
So that's exactly what we did, and it was really nice to be out just for the sake of taking pictures (both because it's nice not to run, and also because we don't do photo excursions nearly enough). And it was made even nicer by finally talking Boomer into coming over and seeing the fantastic park we've got right near our house.
