Spectacularly yellow slime mold that emerged overnight from the mulch in our yard. It was brilliant at 7 a.m. when I walked the dog, somewhat paler an hour later when I took better DSLR photos, and by the midafternoon had turned a dull orange and compressed a lot as the frilly parts collapsed. || Photo info: Taken 2023-04-22 with Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM, ¹⁄₆₀ sec at f/8.0, focal length 100 mm, ISO ISO 1000. Found at Mayville Ledge Beech-Maple Woods SNA in east-central Wisconsin. Dodge County, Wisconsin, USA.
Found on log in mixed hardwood forest.

I am not sure what this is. Probably a slime mold. Any help is appreciated.
Not really a fungus, but a slime mold. It appeared in the garden by the rose arch this morning.
Tenuous Link: a tree sticking out of the water--> a twig sticking out of the...slime mold.

This is actually a "...species of myxogastrid amoeba which is often mistaken for a fungus."
