Hii girlies

I’ve been loving slim nails for a while now. Imo they just give such a soft, elegant look to the hands. I looked around for something similar in SL but couldn t really find what I wanted, so I ended up making them myself.

I know they’re super popular with European girlies but I’ve also heard some hilarious takes about them (my personal fave being “they look like Pringles” 💀😭) meanwhile the classic apex with the slight downward tip is apparently “outdated” now. Honestly tho, I love all styles. Each one has its own charm, and changing things up once in a while is part of the fun.

Anywayyy, this is my new nail release and I’m so happy with how they turned out 💅. Hope you do too.

I was photographing some dahlias at Wright-Locke Farm when I heard Slim calling for me. He and his brother, Turbo, enjoy attention, so I left the dahlias and visited the goats.

Slim Jim has a new job in advertising. He's happy to be able to show off his stunts.

Whatever this Willet was pulling out of the sand at Bolivar Flats was apparently barely worth the effort since he had to keep it up for quite a while to get his fill.

Slim was following me for pats, and not letting me get enough distance for a photo. He's very affectionate! There's also a lot of him to pat/scratch, as he's the size of pony. That's the Squash House at Wright-Locke Farm behind him.

For the first time that I remember, my crabapple tree had almost no fruit this year, likely due to the sustained rainy weather during pollination time. A few days ago a lone Cedar Waxwing showed up (when do you ever see just one Cedar Waxwing?!) and managed to find a shrivelled crabapple.

South Dakota has a few unique natural areas, besides the "normal" ones that everyone visits..in northern South Dakota, lies a ridge of buttes rising above the surrounding prairie..covered with ponderosa pines and other vegitation, it offers a unique undisturbed areas of the west.

One of the few eagles I've gotten this year, So far the eagles have NOT landed! LOL!

Now I'm waiting for the predicted snowstorm that starts this afternoon into tomorrow. I've heard anywhere between 4 yo 8 inches and some nasty winds.

Maybe some good snow pics tomorrow!

Factory Butte, Wayne County, Utah

A cow grazes on some extremely sparse range land in Utah. I'm more than a bit skeptical about the economic viability of such an arrangement, even if the few plants capable of surviving here hadn't been trampled almost out of existence.

In the background is the southern end of Factory Butte, so named for its resemblance to a woolen factory in Provo, Utah. The 1500 foot (460 meter) butte is shale capped by sandstone, both laid down during the Cretaceous Period when this part of Utah was covered by the Western Interior Seaway that covered the length of North America, from what would be the Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic Ocean. The shale was deposited in relatively deep water, the sandstone when the sea level was lower.

A slim Coyote in his streamlined summer coat pauses to stretch and yawn, unconcerned about the presence of humans. Three friends were with me for this dawn outing, in two vehicles; Coyote stopped to assess us for a few moments, then went about his business. In the background, some old fencing, left over from the ranching days. Acquisition of ranch lands for a new national park on the Saskatchewan prairie began in the early 1980s; that process continues on a willing buyer, willing seller basis, and is now 80% complete.

When I first began visiting the area, in 1989, a close encounter such as this with a Coyote was unthinkable - the animals were too wary. By now, successive generations have lived out their lives within park boundaries, subsisting on natural prey rather than supplementing it with livestock; consequently they have been left in peace and have lost some of their fear of humans. The result: excellent photo ops for us wildlife photographers. However, all predators tend to be elusive, and I still have to be persistent to get close shots like this.

Encounters are random. I go out there often. I was out at 4:30 this morning; didn't see anything of note (but I was shooting landscapes and some time lapse video, not really looking for wildlife). A large part of the adventure of wildlife photography is not knowing what surprise lies around the next bend in the road or over the crest of the next hill. Yes, we have hills!

In Khao Yai NP we came across this beautiful Oriental Whip Snake (Ahaetulla prasina). A mildly venomous species, which is commonly found in forested and rural areas. It feeds on vertebrates, including small nesting birds, lizards and frogs. The young are born alive and are brownish in colour while the adults are commonly fluorescent green. This one was yellow/orange though...

The picking at Swanton Berry farm was a little slim that day. A lot of the strawberry patch was like this. Between five of us, we managed to get about two baskets of good berries.

Just north of Santa Cruz, California.

Slim is tricky to photograph, as he is very friendly and is always walking toward me for pats. He didn't mind today's chilly weather.
