I'll wake up when there are cobwebs on our memories,
and then you can throw the withered remains of the roses you once sent on our love's grave.

Despite being extremely exhausted after working several late nights, I haven't been sleeping well at all. It's mostly likely due to the amount of work-related stress that I'm carrying with me. I'm taking a couple of Tylenol PM before bed, so I can actually sleep through the night.
As some of you might know, my wife and I are expecting our first child at Thanksgiving.
Recently my wife had a baby shower and received many great gifts (which means there's less money I'll have to spend). I mean, thanks for the presents.
Anyway, some of our neighbors couldn't make it to the baby shower and decided to hold one in our neighborhood...and it was for couples. I figured we'd get more presents for the baby, but it turns out one couple decided I needed something to prepare me for fatherhood.
The basket contains many useful items, such as:
eye mask - as if I'll be the one who gets to sleep since I'm not the one carrying the baby for 9 months
rubber gloves - major necessity for changing crappy diapers
condoms - actually a little late for these, but quite useful for when my wife decides she wants to try for another
tongs - I'll use these in conjunction with the gloves when changing the diapers. They won't be recycled to the kitchen when diaper duties are done.
sleeping pills - might have to fight my wife for these when the baby's crying all night
ear plugs - what's that? the baby's crying? I don't hear anything.
hand sanitizer - just in case the gloves rip while changing the crappy diapers
stress ball - the neighbors actually wanted to get me a breast implant
energy drink - need that for keeping up with the baby. Or maybe I'll give the baby a few swigs when my wife is home alone with him or her.
assorted cleaners and air sprays
aspirin - I already have a headache trying to put together all of the things that we received with a million parts each. Plus, apparently there was ONE night my wife didn't have a headache...or I wouldn't have received this basket.
The only thing missing from the basket was nose plugs, but since there are 4 ear plugs I can just stick 2 of those up my nose.
The only thing I need now is the baby. Bring it on!!!
New sign on the Beaverton Hillsdale Highway:
"Don't take a sleeping pill & a laxative the same night"
The sign is in Portland, Oregon. (On the Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, between Portland and Beaverton). I have no affiliation - I just drive or ride the bus past the sign most days. The sign is located here (via mapquest).

it has gotten to be a bit of a habit-

I like them more than I like me.

Coffee is another product over advertised and overused in our society. Small amounts of coffee seem to be good for our health, but it is also easy to over consume it.
There is a huge demand for coffee on daily basis with 87% of American population admitting to drinking at least 1 cup per day,...
I suppose this happens once or twice a year—that I go through a phase when I find it difficult to fall asleep. I seemed to be doing much better over the summer than I normally do. I should cut myself some slack. I guess if the side effect weren't depression, I could do that a little better. Not to mention the fact that I have been taking a double dose for five years now (at least) because a single dose had stopped working long ago.
The night before last, I probably had fallen asleep, but it didn't feel as though I'd been asleep when I looked at the clock at 12:30. So I thought: shit, it's 12:30, and I have to get up in six hours. Take 'em.
Last night, I tossed and rocked and shook and held still and switched positions for an hour and a half before I caved.
What happens if I don't take them? I am up the entire night, getting more anxious by the second. Giving myself permission to take sleeping pills when I need them means I sleep. I'm rested and anxious instead of anxious and freaked out from exhaustion.
I've had a bad January and February with these puppies. I'd like to be over whatever is keeping me up. To that end, I ran/walked for forty minutes today. I stuck to my diet. I listened to music. I paid all my bills. I am caught up.
Please let me sleep without these tonight! It is my prayer every night.

Still suffering with my man-flu today.
Luckily, after a night of sweats and crazy hallucinatory dreams, I didn't have to leave the house today.
Secret #13: I can't sleep even with sleeping pills most of the time.
Sometimes they really help though. They usually at least make me get 7 hours in. It's just that I wake up with nightmares still.

This is one of 14 million positions I tried last night to fall asleep. Didn't work. And I am not supposed to be sleeping on my back anyways...which is a huge deal for me!!
Finally crashed at what must have been 3:30 A.M.( last time I remember seeing on my laptop), only to be back up and at 'em at 7:15 A.M. Uuuurrghh.
I was perky this morning, but I think I was delusional;).
And then i read this...
"There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours much more." Woody Allen
I guess we know where I fall, don't we?
"Good morning and in case I don't see ya...
Good afternoon, good evening, and good night!"
(bonus pts. if you can name the movie this quote is in! :)
I uploaded this as soon as I took it. sooc.
On a more personal note:
change is in the air, I can feel it.
its that kind of rude awakening/breath of wonderful fresh air feeling.
I love it!
p.s. didn't realize my clock said pm instead of am until now. opps.
so that means this was actually taken at 2:56am, for those of you wondering. lol. :)
