Peričnik Falls is one of the best-known waterfalls in Slovenia. It flows from a hanging valley in Triglav National Park into the glacial Vrata Valley, where the water of Peričnik Creek then flows into Bistrica Creek.
I had to deal with persistent showers when I got here although the showers relented from time to time making some shots possible. The valley was bursting with autumn colours and the walk up to the falls is short and intense.
The blend of red, orange and yellow colours coupled with flowing water and a big rocky outcrop, makes for a compelling viewing, especially if you love waterfalls. Kinda like xmas coming early :)
It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls you will ever see and oh..slap means waterfalls in Slovenian :)

Oxyura jamaicensis
It is unusal to see a Ruddy Duck on land as they have difficulty walking on land. This beautiful male is advertising to the lady Ruddy Ducks that he is available.
They are fun to watch during the mating season. The male will swim past one or more female Ruddy Ducks before puffing out his chest. He will slap his bill against his chest which makes a sound. While this is going on bubbles will float up under his chest as the result of his movements. His tail will stiffen to a 45 degree angle and can go up to 90 degree as he moves quickly across the water.
The river Krka originates at a spring 4 kilometers east of the town Knin in the region Dalmatia, Croatia. The spring is located under a 22 meter high waterfall called slap Krčić or Topoljski slap. Krčić means tiny Krka.

The source of Life - the most visited waterfall in Slovenia
The visible part of the Savica is fed by the wider karst area of Crno Jezero, lying 500m above the waterfall. The water flows through a hidden underground of passages and lakes in two separate streams.
There is a long climb of 550 steps to each the waterfall.
