I walked out on this concrete slab of a bridge in order to get some more photos. The perfect sunset just kept going on, so I tried my best to find new compositions and points of view.

This bad boy was one of the thickest waves I've seen in my time on the Gold Coast. I was too busy scratching under it to pay attention to where I was holding my camera, so this is a fairly lucky frame...
There's also a gallery from the session up at my blog.
Fahan is steeped in a rich history. A unique feature of the monastic site at Fahan is a finely carved cross-slab to the east of the modern church which dates from the 7th to 9th century. The only Greek inscription known from early Christian Ireland is on one face and reads "Glory and honour to the Father Son and Holy Spirit". Another cross-slab is set into the wall outside the cemetery. The crozier of St. Mura, the first abbot of the original 7th century monastery, and the shrine of St. Mura's Bell, are in the National Museum in Dublin.
The 7th century cross slab located in the graveyard is beautifully decorated . It was generally believed that this cross slab at Fahan Mura was a precursor to the Irish High Crosses, although in recent studies it is suggested the slab may be of a later date.
County Donegal, Ireland.
On my second day back at work and another non rail day, late evening sun and three steel trains in 20 minutes tempted me out to Woodhouse.
The first to pass was 66183 1509 Scunthorpe BSC (ENT C) to East Usk Branch Bridport. This was followed by two northbound services the Wolves to Immingham with just five pig sheds behind 60044. Closely behind what was an unknown load from Burton Wetmore behind an EWS shed, but turned out to be loaded scrap boxes presumably for export.

Nottingham's famous Lions (one of a pair flanking the Town Hall).
Legend has it that the lions will spring to life whenever a virgin passes by…as yet…nothing! :D
I may have got carried away with the pp :D
Taken on the Northumberland coast just before sunrise. Had a couple of very early starts!
The tide had recently covered these slabs and left them part buried with smooth silky sand on top. Made good foreground interest to show off the incredible multi-coloured sky.
Used a Lee 3 stop GND hard and a Little Stopper.

'Roid Week Spring 2018 - Day 5 #1
On our adventure list if we ever made it to the southern deserts of California was a visit to " slab city".
Slab City(or "The Slabs," ) was a WWII-era Marine facility where squatters and seasonal snowbirds live in RVs and vehicles among the concrete remnants, a "great place to spend the winter months.
We opted out! Lol

Harsco operated Kress slab carrier at Scunthorpe steelworks. These vehicles can carry up to 90 tonnes of steel slabs and stack them without the use of cranes. Through the use of onboard high-lift hydraulic tongs, any slabs can be handled directly from any surface without need for pallets or cranes. The tongs also allow the carrier operator to split and sort slab piles with ease.
