Sie ist unter normalen Bedingungen nicht freiäugig, sondern nur mit dem Fernglas sichtbar.

Brief visit to Silica nature reserve, birches have turned but still 2 or 3 weeks to the rich reds to show
For the first time this year our area had some lightning storms resulting in some nice cloud structures.
A full sun halo developed at midday with our steelworks in the foreground.
The sun is getting higher in the sky now as before only half halos have been visible because of the low sun
Whitby Abbey was a 7th-century Christian monastery that later became a Benedictine abbey. The abbey church was situated overlooking the North Sea on the East Cliff above Whitby in North Yorkshire, England, a centre of the medieval Northumbrian kingdom. The abbey and its possessions were confiscated by the crown under Henry VIII during the Dissolution of the Monasteries between 1536 and 1545
