Before 1945 the Potsdamer Platz was the vibrant epicenter of Berlin-City. After WW II it was totally destroyed and no man´s land between West-Germany (BRD) and East-Germany (DDR / GDR). Now everything is new there, East and West is mixing like nowhere else in Berlin and you´ll find very modern and skyscraping architecture.

Great Danes and Manhattan.

VIA 57 West (marketed as VIΛ 57 WEST) is the name of a residential building designed by the Copenhagen and New York based architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The pyramid shaped tower block or "tetrahedron" rises 467 ft and 35 floors tall and is located on West 57th Street in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York City. It is a perfect combination of outrageous American skyscraping architecture with the signature Scandinavian eco-sustainability. According to The New York Times, the name was chosen "because the southbound West Side Highway slopes down as drivers enter the city, right at the spot where the building is situated," acting like a gateway to Manhattan. Say it again, slowly and enjoying every word: a gateway to Manhattan. Now imagine living in your own dream. Yes. First you take Manhattan, then you take... whatever you wish for.

Selection of Panya Clark Espinal as the public artist for Sheppard West Station (Downsview originally)

developed a piece called “Spin” which has been approved by the Sheppard West Station Art Design Review Committee (ADRC).

Artwork is integrated into glazing, terrazzo, ceramic wall tile, and aluminum ceiling finishes throughout the station in a collaborative effort by the artist and the architect. A brief description of the art concept in the artist’s words will be placed on a number of plaques throughout the station.

Panya describes the concept as follows:

“Spin offers viewers various opportunities throughout the station to visualize three imaginary circular brushstrokes floating within and beyond the architectural envelope they are occupying. Using anamorphic techniques, each view of the rings is depicted on the architectural surfaces such that when viewed from the point of ‘projection’ the rendered lines connect smoothly and crystallize as a unified geometry. When seen from other angles the various segments of the geometry fragment and the ring becomes unrecognizable. As we move through the station and descend to the lower levels we see the rings from different angles and pass through them, observing them deconstruct.” Extracted from Toronto Transit Commission"TTC" public documents
