My 2nd hand skyprodigy was £150 supplied with the wrong handset.Ipurchased a starsence hand set for £25 from ebay(I was lucky with that one.).The handset socket on my telescope proved to be faulty but plugging the hand set into the aux port works fine. The mount does not track very accurately and I always get out of shape stars when I try long exposure. The canon 70D was a gift to replace a 550d I had bought 2nd hand for £200 including a 70-300 lens.

SkyProdigy 102mm Telescope + Canon EOS7D

This is the setup I used for making the thermal images of the moon.

I unscrewed the telescope's eyepiece holder and placed the Therm-App in the focusing mechanism, lightly securing it with a rubber band. It wasn't the firmest fixing, but good enough. The telescope then projects an image onto the Therm-App sensor in exactly the same way it would for visible light photography with a DSLR.

I did try imaging Jupiter but it wasn't bright enough to register on the Therm-App. That's not really surprising, as the SkyProdigy 130 is an f/5 'scope - way less sensitive than the f/1.4 that uncooled thermal imagers usually consider to be about the smallest aperture for successful imaging. If I had a cooled imager I'm sure it would be sensitive enough - but they are way out of my price range. The Therm-App was a stretch.

Comments are warmly welcomed.
