Super Connie HB-RSC
In 2011, the Super Connie flew regularly over our house.
It always announced its overflight with a rich engine sound.
Of the 856 Constellations and Super Constellations built by Lockheed, only five aircraft were flying worldwide in 2011. In 2019, only one aircraft was still flying in Australia, which was not allowed to carry passengers.
Since 2017, the 1955-built propeller airliner (considered the most beautiful commercial aircraft in the world because of its elegant shape) has been undergoing restoration and will hopefully be able to resume flying in 2023. The Super Connie HB-RSC shown in the photo will then be the last Super Constellation in the world to be certified for passengers.

Super Connie HB-RSC

'Sky NEWS' report direct from the ski slopes in Cooperstown.
Reporter Stan: "Here we have Hera, the new Sindy from 2020, showing off in the slopes. What a remarkable style!!"
Judy back in the studio: She is looking great Stan. Tell us more about her outfit.
Reporter Stan: "Goodness! She just swooped past me. Did you catch what she said, haha!?"
Judy back in the studio: We did. Very confident that one.
Reporter Stan: "Indeed. Well Judy, she is sporting a yellow nylon marvel from 1971, 'Winter Sports'. Her skis and poles... Oh dear... "
Judy back in the studio: What happened Stan? (Off the mic; someone move the camera!)
Thanks the my followers on FB, and Flickr I was awarded the readers choice for SkyNews photo of the week. I also won a solar telescope shown in the photo!

"Hello and welcome to Sky NEWS with me Judy Goldfarb. Today we're going to discus a few burning topics, like -What is going on with FLICKR?!"
*Sky NEWS jingle plays*
"What do we think of the new Flickr design? And what was wrong with the old layout we'd like to know?
It has caused tremendous headaches all around the Flickr community and some has been reported leaving the site screaming with anxiety.
We have been asked to apologize for lack of response and shortage of communication from the Cooperstown's head office, since they suffered a few brain cells to this particular activity, but they will STAY PUT."
The manager stated: WE WON'T LEAVE FLICKR! Hey, we've even come to both understand and enjoy the new design.
"Perhaps true, but the new layout makes it harder to keep track of one another, so stay on your toes out there and pay each other house calls, just to be sure no one is being missed."
*Sky NEWS jingle plays*
"Speaking of house calls... The Blythe invasion has gone wild in Cooperstown and some of the house calls have been more or less approved by the house owners. So... bla bla bla... adorable... bla bla bla.. wicked... bla bla.. lock your door."
*Sky NEWS jingle plays*
"Our favourite girl Sindy turns 60 this year! Woot woot! The very first Sindy walked the earth in September 1963, more about that closer to The Big Celebration.
That's all for tonight. Please let us know how you cope with the new Flickr layout. Take care!"

Judy back in the studio: Well thank you Stan for your report from the slopes. It was, refreshing. Now over to the weather with Alice. More snow Alice?

Maxie: Hi I'm here now like we agreed!
Judy: I say! Who are you and how did you get in?
Maxie: Maxie LaGrande AKA Wander Lass at your service! You know, from Pathé-tique News in the States.
Amy: That's odd. We were expecting a Sindy LaSangna from Hearst Metrotone.
Maxie: She couldn't make it. Awww, you're dinking tea! Just like real British people. That is so cute!
Judy: *Vexed* We are real British people and drinking tea is not cute! It's refreshing.
Amy: Is that a rifle? So it's true then. All Americans are armed?
Maxie: Yup! You guys drink tea. We carry a gun. What are you wearing, ha ha! Sweatpants and bunny slippers on TV? I thought only we did stuff like that.
Judy: That's neither here nor there. How did you get past our security Barbie?
Maxie: I shot her.
Amy: . . .
Judy: . . . You're hired.

Hippo exhibit at the San Diego Zoo.
As of 2009-02-20, this had reached as high as #17 in the "Explore" pages for Febuary 15, 2009. It is also my "Most Favorited" photo for the "Cream of the Crop" group. Thanks for all the comments and favorites, everyone!
Otis and Funani were both floating right up next to the glass when we swung by their exhibit right before closing time. The expression on his face was just too great to pass up. I'm actually only guessing this one is Otis, mostly just because I thought Otis was a cooler name.
You may notice that Otis' back looks just a bit scratched up. The Zoo had recently swapped male hippos in order to diversify their gene pool a bit, and this was the first day that Otis and Funani had been allowed to come in contact with each other. Apparently they really beat the tar out of each other earlier in the day, and were resting contentedly by the time we got there.
If you've made it this far, then you simply have to check out intransit's artistic interpretation of this photo.
UPDATE, 2010-10-25: This was originally posted to Flickr back in February of 2009. Since then, it has been plucked from here and my Facebook profile to make the rounds of various blogs and "funny animal photo" lists… it's a top hit for hippo photobomb on Google (despite the misuse of the term).
Last week I was contacted by a reporter with Caters News Agency in the UK, who wanted to write an article about it to offer as lighthearted filler for various newspapers and tabloids. It appears to have hit the stands today; I've had several links forwarded to me:
The Sun (captured for posterity)
The Telegraph (also picture of the day)
I'm assuming that it's in the print versions of some of these publications as well as the the online ones… anybody reading this from Europe (or somewhere cosmopolitan like NYC) want to grab me a copy?
UPDATE, 2010-10-29: After the initial wave of "official" articles, we saw a wave of copycat articles in a variety of other online publications. Most of these were reporting on the "hippo photo in the news" phenomenon itself.
China Daily (MUST READ for the English "translation")
Along the way it's picked up the nickname of the "Happy-potamus", which is probably a better title than the one I came up with.
More interesting was the "local story" coverage in San Diego. A short mention appeared online on the San Diego Union Tribune website, but even better was the video segment on local San Diego CBS affiliate KMFB-TV. It was great... they sent a reporter down to the zoo to interview hippo watchers and the whole nine yards. From there, it was picked up by other CBS affiliates around the country and appeared as a filler segment on local news shows, and also on the "Up To The Minute" national overnight news show on CBS. We've heard that it was shown here in Little Rock, but didn't get to see it. Lauren's grandparents in Memphis, who hadn't heard anything about the hubbub, got to be surprised by their granddaughter showing up on their evening news.
UPDATE, 2010-11-15: Coming full circle, the San Diego Zoo has included us on their blog. We had the chance to email back and forth with their staff several times during the preceding media frenzy, and have received a very gracious invitation to stop by for a free visit to the zoo and a behind-the-scenes visit with Otis and Funani.
Another side effect of the media frenzy has been this photo displacing my swingset clones image from its long-held position of "Most Interesting" in my photostream.
UPDATE, 2012-05-22: Looks like my star is in the ascension again... I appear to have recently made it onto a "The 35 Greatest Animal Photobombers Of All Time" list on buzzfeed, which has kicked off a whole 'nother round of hippo sightings. Remember, you saw it here first, folks!
UPDATE, 2012-09-18: The pot is still simmering. We ended up back in the British tabloids (at least the online version) last week when The Daily Mail did an article on animal photobombers. A few days later we showed up on NBC's "Rock Center with Brian Williams" evening newsmagazine show (we show up at 1:40 in this video that references the earlier buzzfeed article).
UPDATE, 2013-08-07: No significant activity since last year, but it was just brought to my attention that thanks to the San Diego Zoo's blog entry, this photo is in the the top ten Google Image results for "hippo".

SEALIFE Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺
PIG the Dugong's Menu at SEALIFE Sydney :
Pig is the resident Dugong at SEA Life Sydney Aquarium’s Dugong Island and has a huge appetite for eating Lettuce.
Pig is a BIG eater and feeds almost constantly from 7:30am to 7:00pm every day. In the wild, dugongs eat massive amounts of seagrass, and the closest match to that at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium is cos lettuce. Pig adores cos lettuce and eats about 30kg every day. The cos is washed and threaded into specially weighted racks, which sit on the bottom of the dugong display in Dugong Island, enabling Pig to graze as he would in the wild. Pig weighs around 300 kilograms.
Pig the Dugong’s lettuce diet costs Sydney Aquarium an eyewatering $18,000 a month (in 2023). According to the Senior Dugong Keeper, Ms Dayna Plater, “Pig is a VIP – a Very Important Pig, so he’s always going to get the best of the best.”
PIG, the Dugong :
Affectionately named after his eating habits, Pig was rescued from Forrest Beach in Northern Queensland in 1998, at just under a month old by Sea World Marine Park. Dugong calves stay with their mothers for at least 18 months so without Sea World Marine Park hand-raising him, he would not have survived.
The team at Sea World rehabilitated Pig and he was released back into the wild once he was old enough. Eight months later he was found again and had lost 30% of his body weight. He'd also been wounded from other male dugongs. It was then decided it would be best for Pig to stay in human care and have a dedicated passionate team looking after him.
Duogong :
The Dugong is a large, grey brown bulbous marine animal with a flattened fluked tail, like that of a whale, no dorsal fin, paddle like flippers and distinctive head shape.
The common name, dugong, comes from a Malay word meaning 'lady of the sea'. In fact, dugongs are most closely related not to any other sea creature, but to elephants. Dugongs (Dugong dugong) are closely related to manatees and are the fourth species under the order SIRENIA.
This big, gentle mammalian herbivore may not at first glance look much like the mermaids you might have read about in myths and legends. It's thought that the legend of dugongs belonging to the Sirenia (the Greek word for mermaid) originated from delirious sailors who mistook the animals for seductive fishy-tailed females after too long out on the ocean.
Dugongs are found in warm coastal and inland waters of the Western Indo-Pacific region. This reaches from East Africa to Australia, including the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean.

TEXT POSTED JULY 16th, 2016
15 July 2016 coup d'état attempt reflects Turkey's complex socio-political reality and the multifaceted divisions within her neo-ottoman political establishment and the deep military state, as well as the division between the ultra-conservative Suni Muslim and the westernized secular parts of the Turkish society.
The latest developments will affect for the worse Turkey's poor democratic records and at the same time her stance on numerous hot issues like the long running undeclared (civil) war with the Kurds, the war in Syria (and the undercover collaboration with ISIS), the refugee flows to Europe, the occupation of the northern part of Cyprus (since the 1974 pre planned turkish invasion), the expansionist aggressiveness in the Aegean Sea against Greece and, among many others, her ambition of becoming a European Union member state; an ultra nationalist and coercive state of aggressive pan turkism (by military threat and demography) against "her potential subjects" ...

Russian authorities said Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin boarded the flight, though there has been no absolute confirmation of his death.
The Russian news agency Interfax said 10 bodies had been recovered from the site.

APR 2005 From the Aeon of Regional Conflicts and World Wars,
to the Epoch of Clashing Civilizations & Global Uniculturalism.
[-] Notes from bilwander's suspended Facebook, now >here [-]
In the times of Globalization & the "progressive" illusion of Multicultural "Coexistence" ( i.e. devastative global uniculturalism ), Clashing Civilizations, Proxy Wars, Blind Terrorism, Uncontrolled Breeding and Consumerism, are ending this World, while ... Comics of ... Iconomics make the most epic failure ever of Democracy in the, so to say, developed societies.
Virtual Economies (thus Iconomies) generating elitist wealth out of deregulated money supply, leveraged credit expansion, permanently rolling-over and exponentially rising debt , impossible to be paid-off in any visible future, along with unsustainable consumption and "growth", and, in the end, extreme global socio-economic, geopolitical, environmental and currently, even health crises.
Crises of Massive Poverty, Misery and Migration, on a planet already crowded, littered, polluted and exploited to its limits; a planet where the wealthy suffer from diseases of affluence & longevity, and contaminated food, while the poor die early from malnutrition and lack of basic hygiene and medical care.
World Population and Inequality (Wealth Distribution Gap) grow faster than the Gross World Product (GWP) while Natural Resources are Draining Out, and Long-term Structural Unemployment & Poverty will deterministically continue to rise for at least this whole century as far as Governments and Peoples continue to ignore and defy the most crucial macroeconomic parameter (World Demographic Trend) and the components (Population Size & Quality) that define the Welfare Equation. In simple words : :
The More People On Earth The Much Worse Their Life Gets
The Mother of All Evil and Misery
In The Epoch of the Infinite Evolution of Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics and Eugenics, the forecasts for World Poverty are gravely pessimistic as far as the vast majority of people continue to over-exercise Outdated Reproductive Rights, without basic knowledge, responsibility and resources, or, even worse, with criminal and/or genetically detrimental records, factually instigating and perpetrating the most massive, continuous and silent Genocidal Crime of human history alongside an Overpopulation of self-condemned people ...
A more than obvious global crime, yet ignored and absent from any agenda, a taboo not even to be quoted within a defiant World Society and an idle Academic Community; the Mother of All Evil and Misery, a ticking time-bomb of total destruction whereas populist regimes and the hypocrisy of political correctness dominate and govern the populace ...
Family Planning, Genetic Engineering and, nowadays, Sexual Transgenderism (and eventually Androidification ) though yet far from consisting mainstream social procedures, and even with law deficits, are increasingly practiced altering already the traditional patterns of human reproduction and social institutions, thus defining the rise of a new epoch within the Anthropocene.
Qualitatively Controlled Human Reproduction by individual choice, assisted by Sperm & Ova Banks via Modified DNA and combination of superior genetic "materials" along with Artificial Intelligence, will eventually lead to intellectual and physical abilities, unprecedentedly superior to those of Homo Sapiens and its contemporary Universalis, so defining the species of the Androidified Human; a Homo Superius of “his/her/its” kind; the product of the Contemporary Dark Ages where Obsolete Reproductive Rights encroach and override Basic Human Rights, transforming the decadent democracies into de facto regimes of Extreme Populism, Anarchy, Illegalism, Oligarchy & Tyranny ....
In the future, most likely, even fewer countries and smaller populations than today will be able to obtain & maintain high standards of living, provided that they will manage to sustain robust, fiscally and monetarily disciplined, economies, based on advanced technology, secured energy self-sufficiency/accessibility, demographic sustainability with social security and geopolitical stability along with effective control & regulation of the migration influx and its intensifying impact and destabilizing potential on the function of the 'developed' economies and societies.

It's the People, stupid ! (15 APR 2016)
As usual, Soros just speaks out about preserving the Bubble of World Economy for as long as possible...
Who does actually care or can make a difference about next generations, peoples, people, proxy wars, clashing civilizations, migrants or refugees ? ... simply no one
The Bubble, like any bubble, has an undated, but deterministically approaching Burst Out Day .... and the World is already bankrupt in effect and long before the evolving Economic Meltdown, just because of its unregulated and unsustainable population size .....
It's the (Too Many & Stupid) People, Stupid !
