Definitely didn't do this place justice, which only means one thing! I certainly wouldn't object to waking up to this view again.
You can just make out the Dubh Ridge on the right, which 12 of us women ascended a few days before. A day that will stick in the memory. As will discovering a tick on my backside on the last day, and one of my poor companions having to extract it 😳

Sunday morning at Portree harbour on the Island of Skye. It was the calm after one wild freezing day and before the next stormy day.
This was our first full day on Skye and the first time seeing it in the light, albeit subdued. I had planned for an overcast day with a trip to the Fairy Pools, an easy walk up the side of the Allt Coir' a' Mhadaidh and a great collection of plunge pools and waterfalls that tumble down from the foothills of the Black Cuillins into Glen Brittle.
I do wish there was a little more separation in the form of some direct light on the foreground, but you can only work with what you have. To try and combat the 'flatness' of the final image I decided to cross process the picture with magenta and teal hues.
Beautiful evening waiting for the sun to set and when it did the whole sky lit up with tremendous colours What a beautiful place
(Isle of Skye, Scotland)
The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
(Deuteronomy 33:27)
This point-and-shoot photo of the Isle of Skye was taken in 2006. The island lies off Scotland's north-west coast. It is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides, and is joined to the mainland by a bridge.
The weather here has been a bit dismal lately and has been reflected in the last few photos in my stream. However, the sun came out today and I got to do my favourite thing!
So...here's a sunny photo, with the gorgeous little Skye

The Isle of Skye, connected to the northwest coast of Scotland by a bridge, is known for its wild landscapes, picturesque fishing villages and medieval castles. The largest island in the Inner Hebrides archipelago, it has a rugged coastline of peninsulas and narrow lochs, radiating out from more mountainous inland areas. The town of Portree, the starting point for exploring the island, has shops and seaside pubs.
I've had little chance to go out lately so I've been looking through the archives. This was taken last March. Looking forward to a return visit to Skye in a few weeks times.
Just off the B8083 road to Elgol not long after Broadford, there is what appears to be grassed over ruins by the side of the road on the right. From here you have a glorious view across to Beinn na Caillich ("Hill of the Old Woman" on the right), Beinn Dearg Mhor (roughly "great red hill" centre) and Beinn Dearg Bheag (roughly "smaller red hill" the left-most peak). Caught here on a gloriously late sunny afternoon.

This monument consists of the remains of a medieval tower and an area around it.
The very fragmentary condition of the castle - only the N and S walls have masonry standing to any great height - makes interpretation of the building difficult. It is a simple rectangular tower which appears to have had its entrance on the first floor with access to the ground-floor cellar being from above. The tower rose to a second floor with the third floor being a garret at wall head level.
During my stay on Skye Isle, I had the pleasure of enjoying a little, beautiful b&b where i found great hospitality. This was an usual everyday view from the garden on the back of my room: silence, sheeps and the colors of this stunning island.
Isle of Skye
I decided to dip into the archives for a few more photos of the beautiful Isle of Skye. This one was taken from the fort called Dun Ardtrek on the Minginish Peninsula, looking towards the Duirinish Peninsula on the west coast, just as the sun was setting. The EXIF data shows the time of the original being taken at 8:53pm, but it was actually 9:53pm, I’d forgotten to alter the time on the camera when the clocks went forward !
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
