Also known as the Egyptian Blue Lily, the Nymphaea Caerulea is a blue waterlily found along the Nile and is considered extremely significant in Egyptian mythology, in that it represents the sun, creation and rebirth. This amazing flower rises in the morning, raising its sun-kissed petals in full glory, and when the sun sets, the bloom closes as it sinks underwater.
How cool is that?
Another version relates how before the universe came to be, there existed an infinite ocean of inert water which constituted the primeval being named Nun. And out of Nun emerged a lotus flower, together with a single mound of dry land. When the lotus bloomed, out stepped the Egyptian Sun God, Ra.
See, no matter how you look at it, the Egyptian Blue Lily is invariably linked with both the sun and the moon. With dark and light - thus setting the premise for the earrings, A Case Study Of The Nymphaea Caerulea.
My case study begins with wavy tendrils to echo the ripples that delicately tiptoe across the water with every moment the flower makes. Their form is intentionally curvaceous at first then tapers to a sharp, sleek finish ... to symbolise the shape of the petals.
I've kept the palette as close to my muse as ever, sticking with blues, whites and yellows, and deployed the use of Prehnite Briolettes, Mystic Lemon Topaz Briolettes, wee Sky Blue Briolettes and the darlingest Spiral Twist Briolettes in an intriguing shade of Mystic Grey Topaz (which is so tormentingly hard to photograph). That shot of vivid blue in the centre is MAGNIFICENT London Blue Topaz Trillons, absolutely amazing in their faceted brilliance.
And for a hint of moonlight, drumrolls pretty please, RARE WHITE LABRADORITES. Swoon with me, people.

I wanted to capture the soul of one of Japan's most celebrated geishas, Sayuri, in earrings aptly baptised as Through The Eyes Of A Geisha.
Indeed, it is through her amazingly striking eyes are we given a backstage view of the ancient and secretive geisha district, Gion, and of the lives of the women who learn and practice the rigorous arts of the geisha.
Through (seemingly identical, emphasis on the word "seemingly") swirls and twirls; and dark intriguing hues interspersed with flashes of light, I've attempted to portray an unparalleled look at a strange and mysterious world which has now almost vanished.
That touch of brazen red coupled with cascades of chains and passionate bejewelled clusters serve to recreate an unforgettable, dazzling portrait of a singular and most seductive woman who tells her story in a compelling first person voice.
Gemstones used are Ceylonese Moonstone Ovals, Rare Green Sunstone Briolettes, Red Coral, Sky Blue Topaz Briolettes and buttery smooth Polished Rounds of Topaz as well as Blue Labradorite.

Totally, utterly and implicitly inspired by Sayuri (Kyoto's most famous geisha), the lead character in Arthur Golden's Memoirs Of A Geisha.
I'll be the first to say that this particular palette was exceedingly difficult for me to work with. I who love technicolour. Who appreciates all things effervescent and somewhat flamboyant. But I'm also the last person to turn down a challenge :)
Loosely based on what I feel Sayuri would wear as a haircomb, I sketched this design over a year ago, on 18th March 2008 to be precise (did I hear gasps of "and it took her this long to make it?"), and finally got around to actualising the necklace you now see before you.
"Fire Sky" ~ Sky and sun meet brillliantly in this beautiful wirework ring. At its heart is a sparkling AAA Sky Blue Topaz drop bead complimented by London Blue Topaz and AAA grade Fire Opal beads, all of which are woven with 14K Gold-filled wire onto an elegant Nickel Free, tarnish resistant Argentium Silver ring frame. Topaz is also the birthstone for the month of November and Opal is for October.

Interpreted in the form of that DIVINE Sky Blue Topaz Focal which weighs an astounding 70Ctw and measures around 27mm. Their intensity reinforced with tons of Blue Labradorite Rounds, Faceted Mystic Grey Quartz Rondelles and teeny tiny Polished Clear Topaz Rounds.
Is that a hint of green too that I detect in Sayuri's gaze? Into the mix I've added immensely Rare Green Sunstone Briolettes as well as AAA Grade Polished Prasiolite Nuggets.
Meant to be worn tantalisingly around the collarbone, the chain portion showcases heaps more Blue Labradorite and Mystic Grey Quartz, and a quartet of Faceted Mystic Spinel Rounds.
The red? Sayuri's signature lipstick.
The chain tassel? Sayuri's jet black tresses.
Sayuri's Memoirs drapes from 14" to 21" around your neck (adjustable, thanks to a 7" extension chain), and her bold focal measures approximately 4" at her most curvaceous, and 6.5" in height. A statement piece. All wires and chains used are a combination of 925 Sterling and 999 Fine Silvers.

Inspired by Annie Leikovitz’s Cinderella “Where every Cinderella story comes true” which beautifully portrait by Scarlet Johansen , I was aspired to create this charming little piece – The Girl with the Glass Slipper, using deeply attractive shades of blue. I have to say that it was immensely fun to create & every bits & piece of it was melodiously synonymous.
This little darling comprise of an intricate frame coiled intensively in zigzag pattern halfway through, a distinctive appeal of hers. Within them, are motives of vine pattern bedecked with tiny Thai Beads, glorious & brilliant AAA MICRO FACETED MYSTIC TOPAZ OVAL BRIOLETTE that echo the likes of Cinderella’s glass slipper and the soothing lovely Baby BLUE CHALCEDONY reminiscent her beautiful flowing blue gown.
On both side and bottom of the frame, you’ll find triplets of dazzling AAA GEM GRADE SKY BLUE TOPAZ cast an amazing brilliance with Swarovski crystal of mystic heat in Blue Zircon & Turquoise, producing a very sparkling effect as they sway, truly. Last but not least, to finalize this glam creation, more girly clusters of Swarovski crystals of the same color adding extra bling just above the intricate frame. A fabulous combination that is exceptionally attractive!
This beautiful piece drapes approximately 3” from top of the sterling silver leverback earwires and curves 1” at her widest point. It is absolutely a statement-making on its own. A wearable piece, extremely light & comfy ;)
All of the silver was given an oxidized finished and polished to bring out the details of the wire work.

A truly decadent combination of both gemstones and colors... the Marseilles bracelet is perfect for an afternoon stroll along the beaches of the Côte d’Azur. This piece features six inches of densely packed full teardrop briolettes of Sky Blue Topaz and teal rondelles of Apatite. Each of these little gems is placed on a silver ball headpin and is individually wire-wrapped into a fine chain. A large faceted oval of Swiss Blue Topaz is asymmetrically placed within the piece - a signature of JLee jewelry. Rounds of honey colored Citrine are placed on either side of the Sterling Silver toggle. At the toggle you will find a dangling charm over .75" in length comprised of an impressive heart of golden Citrine topped off with a nest of Sterling Silver wire and Apatite. A silver signature tag imprinted with "jlee" finishes off the piece. 7.25" in length

A brilliant mess of soft greens and blues make their home beneath a pure silver hammered circle that I created using Precious Metal Clay. Each wrapped in sterling silver, the gems include Swiss Blue topaz, sky blue topaz, aquamarine and three cuts of soft green prasiolite. The gems move independently and create a different arrangement with every move. The pendant drops down on a sterling silver satellite chain which closes with a sterling silver lobster claw clasp and two rainbow moonstones. I can't think of anything but cool blue water when I look at this necklace and all the calming thoughts that go along with the sea.
