From the archives. A glorious morning sky captured off our
hotel balcony in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina,
Taken 11/27/2011.
Redo of an earlier post.
Thank you so much for taking a look!
A first sure sing that shows that summer is over: starlings are moving to south above misty fields...
This was a few days ago, just before the arrival of a thunderstorm, which are the clouds on the right, and the remaining sky on the left that caused this break in the cloud and the Sun rays were spectacular in fact, more so than I could actually demonstrate. This was with the Tamron which I feel is the better lens for sky captures.
Halfway there folks, I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

Capture this evening along Middle River down several piers from my Dad's. It was decked out nicely for the holidays. Looked nice against that late evening sky. Captured handheld at higher ISO. Liked the results with the reflections.
My last of the sky captures. A dramatic Mount Ararat in Turkey during an overhead flight at 36000 feet. It is a truly beautiful beast of a mountain.

"The Brain — is wider than the Sky —
For — put them side by side —
The one the other will contain
With ease — and You — beside —
The Brain is deeper than the sea —
For — hold them — Blue to Blue —
The one the other will absorb —
As Sponges — Buckets — do —
The Brain is just the weight of God —
For — Heft them — Pound for Pound —
And they will differ — if they do —
As Syllable from Sound —"

Photo locale, Backdrop City:
I had fun watching this yellow-rumped warbler hovering in the sky, capturing little gnats. It looked rather angelic to me with the wings spread and light coming through the feathers. You can see one of the gnats on the left in this shot.
The moon looked pretty crisp there in the late day sky with sunset here in Maryland. The atmosphere is much clearer this evening, but with half a moon filling the sky, capturing night sky objects would be very difficult.
The Storm Of Seth by Daniel Arrhakis 2014
Once in centuries come a great storm to the desert Lands Of Dhaarhan ... strange and beautiful ... hauntingly beautiful ... the ancients called it the arrival of Seth ...

A wonderful day dear friends ! Thank you once more for your visit in these last days, nice comments and invitations ! Much grateful to all of you ! : )
So sorry i am trying catching up but in these latest times I'm a little slower and more busy than usual !
A sky captured just before my last photo somewhere in Arnold/Woodthorpe area, but without an interesting silhouette. Then whilst on a walk at the weekend this tree stood out on a path leading from Oxton to Epperstone Park. I photographed an underexposed shot of the tree, then flattened the horizon as the original tree was on a hill sloping up to the right, removed some power lines before replacing the sky with the Sky Replacement feature of Photoshop. The location shown is for the tree.
The Medieval Castle of Paphos...

Can you barely discern the mortals strolling by the beach? Yes, they are humans, not ants! Their figures’ tiniest size creates a sense of scale needed to comprehend the mere vastness of the sea and sky captured in the frame.
This is the North Sea that is only a small part of the Atlantic ocean. So, this shot is nothing but a glimpse at the enormous vastness of the latter. The water-edge pictorially defines the ocean as finite.

This was the first night sky capture I took on this latest trip out west with the new Rokinon lens. Was hiking along in Canyonlands and could see the glow of the Milky Way there rising above the trees along the ridge.
Two stitch image to get the wider view there of the Milky Way splaying out over the arch in the night sky.
Captured with the Rokinon 14mm at f/2.8
Field of oilseed rape at Duffus.....
Duffus Castle, near Elgin, Moray, Scotland, was a motte-and-bailey castle and was in use from c.1140 to 1705. During its occupation it underwent many alterations. The most fundamental was the destruction of the original wooden structure and its replacement with one of stone. At the time of its establishment, it was one of the most secure fortifications in Scotland. At the death of the 2nd Lord Duffus in 1705, the castle had become totally unsuitable as a dwelling and so was abandoned.
