Any thoughts on the Facebook takeover?
skotjay: @mimiwings Thanks! @raf901 I hate Facebook. You can ask my wife @candykay, this is not a new opinion for me. Every second I have to spend figuring out how it works, is a second wasted. More so because as soon as I do, they'll change it all up with a new design. And really, when was the las time Facebook made changes to something and your reaction was, "Wow! This changes are AWESOME!" The single, solitary, one and only reason I have a FB account is that I have everything set up to post to it automatically (Twitter, Instagram, etc.) so that my family can see it. #2 and this is the real doozie. I can't see what FB would want with Instagram other than to fold it into FB somehow, or shut it down outright, and acquire the talent from it, despite what Zuck says... Your thoughts?
mimiwings: Oh I totally feel the exact same way!! I never even had a Facebook until about 6 mos ago, an the ONLY reason I got one was to play scrabble with my best girl friend. I've only checked it once of twice. I really hope nothing changes here at IG. I have made some wonderful friendships aside from having a creative outlet. The whole thing sucks

raf901: I've always had an issue with Facebook's privacy track record. And deep embedded in its Terms of use, turns out you sign a lot away. I've never been a huge fan and the only use I have for it is sharing my stuff with my family and making fun of people I used to go to school with. Ultimately, what FB has achieved is quite admirable - connecting close to a third of the human race on its network. But as everything, once a corporation gets big it loses it's way. In buying out IG, I can see how FB caught unto IGs success, saw it as an extension of what they do and scooped them up. It's a good move for any tech company to get something like IG. But it makes us all wonder what the true cost will be

skotjay: @kahliblue I would start at the beginning with one of the trades. These single issue comics are collected, generally 6-8 issues, and then made into the thicker books you see. Those books are called "trade paperbacks" or "TPB"s. On the spine of every comic trade should be the volume number. So if you got "The Walking Dead, Vol. 1: Days Gone by" you'd be starting at the beginning. If you're like me, and it doesn't matter if you have the actual paper copy in your hands, you can also download the "Walking Dead"app for your iPhone or iPad, and buy them digitally. Issue #1 is free, to see if you like it, and like reading it on your device. You should try it, even on the iPhone, its specially formatted in a way that i quite like.

skotjay: @aprilshowers_77 Me too! I signed up, then got addicted to it because my favorite mystery/noir author, Lawrence Block, actually interacts in a very active way with his readers on there. Then we got to be friends on Twitter and FB. One of the weirder experiences of my life is now that when I'm reading an author I've read for years, like as not I'll be chatting with him while I'm doing it.

You never eat them bite by bite, but unwind them out and around until you get to the middle? This is what that desert wants to be when it grows up!

skotjay: @facetothesky It is! I'll make a confession, I generally set it, then I'll take 5-9 shots in quick succession, then I pick the burn that pleases me
facetothesky: I do the exact same thing! UnHipstaAware Person looking at my camera roll: "9 of the exact same picture??" Then you delve into this whole downward spiral of, "Oh no, they're not exactly the same..."
skotjay: @facetothesky ha! I taking multiple shots and being selective is as far as I go. The main reason I use Hipstamatic is that it limits the extent to which I can "over think" my pictures. I only laps in two areas 1) multiple shots 2) thinking a shot isn't good enough, until @candykay is going through them and saying "post that! Why didn't you post that?!"
