Kateleen Prevost has found a place to belong at Northwest Community College's culinary arts program. Kateleen and her fellow students have access to equipment found in professional kitchens, including an oven that can be programed with an iPad.

"The Guard"-----created by Mr Yi-Yen Chien of Taiwan. The competitors had 3 1/2 hours to create a chocolate sculpture. I watched Mr Chien during the final hour and was caught up in the excitment. He lost valuable time when the 2 long arches fell off and it was a race against time towards the final 10 minutes----he finished his creation on time!

United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers & Allied Workers President Kinsey M. Robinson and WCC President Dr. Rose B. Bellanca held a ceremonial contract signing Aug. 16 to signify that the union will hold its National Instructor Training Program on the college campus beginning June 2020.

I made sure to get over to the STC from Trafalgar Campus before they started moving everything and everyone out.

BCIT's open house was an opportunity for the public to see the in-demand programs the institution offers. It was also an opportunity for Advanced Education Minister Andrew Wilkinson and MLA Burnaby North Richard L. Lee to announce $357,450 toward the purchase of new trades and health care training equipment.

Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour, Shirley Bond took the stage to discuss government’s plan to build the skilled workforce that the LNG and other key sectors need. Before her speech she met BC Building Trades apprentices Luke Millican, Austin Pasqualini, Victor Perez and Will Terestra to talk about their apprenticeships. They were accompanied by training coordinators Randy Griswood, Jud Martell, Ron Adamson and Derek Dinzey.

New tax relief to enhance the competitiveness of BC's liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry welcomed by Premier Christy Clark and Deputy Premier Rich Coleman. The LNG industry is a new and unique opportunity to grow the economy and create jobs in the province. Nineteen proposals are under consideration in British Columbia and are at various stages of development.
