Except for the wolves, there's not much that's fuzzy and furry in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan's Iron County in the dead of winter. So when I noticed a clump of dried-up goldenrod at the intersection of National Forest Road 16 and Robinson Road, I pulled over to take some photos. Since I returned from the Great White North, I've been playing with my shots using apps on my brand new iPhone 11 Pro Plus.
iPhoneography on iPhone 11 Pro Max. Apps used: Waterlogue, SketchArt, Superimpose, Carbon, PhotoEditor. I drew in the lines of the porthole and the mountain using PhotoEditor.
I experimented on my iPhone 11 Pro Max with a photo of a fish windsock that flies from a pole on my front porch. I tried many color variations but wasn't satisfied with any of them. A couple of weeks passed by. Then, last night, I desaturated it in PhotoEditor. A Japanese 19th-century Japanese print blending into a Chinese inkbrush painting emerged from the former chaos. This story reflects a great deal about my approach to iPhoneography. I try this and that. I fail. I return, sometimes serendipitously, and then I succeed!

As I was driving through Ashlar Village, which is a beautiful, rich community for the elderly in Wallingford, CT, I happened to see this lovely Lincoln Town Car that was Black. Boy, what a car. I would love to own one of these babys some day. So, I found some odd angles to take pics.

These are actually dried out grape leaves at my son's place. It's heavy overcast in Jerusalem,
so I brightened things up with Topaz software.
Nikon D5100, AF-S Nikkor 18-55. The fence is near steps, so I was able to get behind the leaves
and fence. Happy Fenced Friday!
This is one of the first captures done with the D90, when it was new in March.
Happy Sliders Sunday.

November 13-17, I was staying in a very rustic deer hunting camp in Iron County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I provided a supporting role for my 87-year-old father-in-law, the deer hunter, who has used this cabin for decades. I am not a hunter of animals but I do hunt for beauty. I decided to focus on some of the details of the cabin with my new iPhone 11 Plus. The warm glow of this gas lantern caught my eye. I processed the image using the following apps: Glaze, SketchArt, PhotoEditor, and Instagram. We had some adventures--getting lost the first night in a maze of snowed-over cabin roads. We got in a tight spot and barely turned the SUV around. Well after dark, he recognized the cabin and we were safe for the night. There were other adventures too, including getting the truck stuck in a ditch. There's no cellphone service for miles around. I was prepared to hike 7 miles into Kenton to get help when a good Samaritan came to the rescue. The prospect of a long hike made me nervous because Iron Mountain has more wolves per square mile than any other county in the Upper Peninsula. The things I do to get a picture!
