Not a lot of things to say about this photo. As a photographer, geometry is something that I am always looking for and when I visited Westfield Horton Plaza, an almost deserted outdoor Mall right in the heart of San Diego's Gaslamp neighborhood, i think i found it! i wished it was slightly less sunny so I can get more vibrant colors but I guess they call it "Sunny California" for a reason! HWW everybody! Stay safe!

It's never a good thing to interrupt anyone in the middle of bath time but I can tell you that when you interrupt my friend Ted in his bath you take your life into your hands! He's got abs you can hang your coat on and let's face it, he's not the friendliest of guys at the best of times. So when I charged in on him with my camera while he was having a soak I was expecting the worst. And with good reason, a second after this was shot he leapt out of the bath and bashed me round the ears. Thank goodness he's only 6 inches high! 😂
For the information of the MM police Ted's 'bathtub' is a tea cup and measures just under 3 inches from edge to edge.

‘Grey day again’. So ‘go on a tree hunt’ was the order of the day, this 'Six Pack' always catches my eye as I drive back to the village - they get the sun behind them on a summers evening - the downside is they have power lines behind them so a little editing was required here. Fingers crossed for a bit of sun this coming week - hope so. Alan;-)
366 - I’ve decided to do this to force me to pick up a camera other than when we are away on our travels (they will be posted as normal) - I will be interested to see what transpires, they will be varied I’m sure so we’ll see where inspiration takes me over the course of the year, hopefully at the end of it I will be a better photographer. Feel free to critique as you see fit, but please don’t feel obliged, I anticipate they will not be to all tastes. Have a great year and if you also have embarked on a 365 project then good luck in seeing it through, Alan:-)

Lange Jahre lang gehörte die Reichsbahnfahrleitung aus dem Jahre 1936 zum gewohnten Bild auf der Höllentalbahn.
Zwischen Titisee und Neustadt gab es dabei eine handvoll Exoten.
In den 80ern wurde mit einer Mastsanierung begonnen, die aber nie fertiggestellt wurde und so gab es dort grundierte Masten, die Albinos.
Am 30. Oktober 2016 waren an dieser Stelle 143 972 und 143 050 mit der RB 17224 (Neustadt - Freiburg Hbf) unterwegs.
Heute gibt es hier 1440, für 143 972 ging die Sache glimpflich aus, sie landete später bei DeltaRail wo sie heute noch fährt. Für 143 050 gingen nach einem Cargointermezzo 2022 die Lichter bei Bender aus.

The surest indicator of winter on Horsepen Bayou is the appearance of American White Pelicans rousing at sunrise. Though they are common year-round just 20 miles away on the coast, they only use the bayou as a roosting spot in the dead of winter and even then, only occasionally. But when they do, they are almost always majestic in the calm water and morning mist.

Idylisch in Tannen eingebettet, liegt der Titisee.
So titelt ein Film über die Eisenbahn im Höllental aus den 40er Jahren.
Die Gegend hat bis heute ihren Reiz und wird gerade in den Sommermonaten von Touristenmassen förmlich geflutet.
Aber es gibt doch noch Plätze wo man den Titisee in Ruhe bestaunen kann ohne durchgeschoben zu werden.
So suchte ich mir am 10. Juli 2016 ein Platz in der Seesteige kurz vor Feldberg-Bärental um dort an einer frisch gerodeten Stelle den beiden Freiburgern
143 856 "Hinterzarten" und 143 810 "Schluchsee" mit der RB 17274 (Seebrugg - Freiburg Hbf)) festzuhalten. Schließlich sollte es ihr letzter Sommer dort sein.
Heute trifft man hier im Nahverkehr nur noch 1440 an.
143 810 ging 2022 den Weg des alten Eisens, 143 856 hingegen perfomant nun als Melissa als in orientrot bei DB Gebrauchtzug.
Yeah, they are ugly. Beauty is not a requisite for a scavenger. But they aren't interested in hurting the living. Vultures only want dead meat, kind of like humans if you think about it - they don't kill for it and let Time do the cooking. And every now and then they might save a life.
A friend of ours tells a story of misspent youth, reveling in alcohol and drugs. Broke and forced to move back in with his father, Dad wisely put him to work painting a very long field fence for his keep. Armed with a can of paint, a brush, and a sixpack, he dawdled before beginning his task in the hot summer sun.
Consuming all the beer after a hard five minutes of painting, he laid down under a tree for a self-pitying "nap". A couple of hours later, he was awakened by a poke on his belly, and opened one eye to find a vulture assessing the situation. No, the guy wasn't dead yet, but it looked like it might be worth the wait.
Our friend has been sober ever since that day, has a lovely family, and owns a business.
Vultures scare us because they remind us of death. That can be useful.

Auf der Höllentalbahn geht es zwischen Himmelreich und Hinterzarten steil bergauf, so ist die Strecke im Abschnitt Hirschsprung - Hinterzarten sogar eine Steilstrecke.
Auf dieser liegt auch das weithinbekannte Ravennaviadukt zu dessen Füßen sich das Hofgut Sternen befindet.
Im Jahre 2016 konnte man dort noch 143er des Bw Freiburg sehen. Aufgrund der Steigung waren beim Trabi bei mehr als drei Dostos lasttechnisch Schluss. So behalf man sich mit entsprechenenden Verstärkerwagen + 143 in der HVZ und am Wochenende um den Fahrgastströmen Herr zu werden. Dabei verkehrten entweder ein oder zwei Verstärkerwagen oder gleiche eine ganze Garnitur.
Am 22. Juni 2016 konnte der genau aufs Ravennviadukt passende Sixpack bespannt von 143 364 und 143 308 welcher als RB 17278 (Titisee - Freiburg Hbf) verkehrte dokumentiert werden.
Für die beiden 143er ging zum Fahrplanwechsel 2016/2017 der Betrieb beim Bw Freiburg zu Ende. 2021 wurden beide verschrottet.
Heute gibt es hier 1440, welche diese Kapazitäten nicht mehr bieten können.

I was invited to this release of a Red-tailed Hawk that was found starving to death and ill 4 months ago. A wonderful woman from the Raptor Rescue Center has cared for it the past 4 months bringing it to optimum health for this release. There wasn't much time or prep for this capture...as soon as the hood came off it took to the air and never looked back...once again becoming the 'free bird' it was meant to be.
