Nuage ressemblant à un singe, donnant l'impression de s'interroger, sur la signification de mon alias.
Région du Bas-Saint-Laurent, province de Québec, Canada.
I had the great fortune to shoot with rising
star, singer-songwriter Aubrey Burchell. This industrious songstress is busy gigging around the local area, and beyond, while also creating original songs, the next of which will be released during the coming month or so.
Her musical stylings convey a bold contemporary vibe with undertones of blues and funk. Be sure to catch her at one of Westmoreland County's many cozy local live music venues, or find her work online!

There is not a lot of information on the abandoned Château de Singes, however since writing my previous report from the visit in March 2014 I have been told that the owner did not vacate quite as early as the 1907's but that he actually resided here until 2012 when he went into a nursing home.
This Annual Cicada has just hatched from it's nymph stage after coming out of the ground. The Cicada will soon take flight to the upper reaches of the trees and start it's song to lure a female for mating. I really enjoy the sounds of these insects, but they are considerably less, as chemicals are poured on lawns for a fine green landscape. Here is a link to some information and their song.

The Singer is one of my photos in the show. This photo was taken from the audience without flash – or tripod – so it was a real test with the dimmed stage lighting.
I wanted the spotlight to retain its shape and smokiness while the singer was sharp in her silhouette. I liked some of the detail of her dress, but I did want it to still be silhouetted. The crop was tricky because I wanted to retain the stage set, but I didn’t want too much clutter. I did take out the heads of a couple of people in the front row of the audience to give the illusion that she’s alone on stage. There is quite a lot of dodging and burning in this photo; highlighting some elements while blending others into the background.
Post-processing was challenging. It took a lot of time to bring out my vision. I have my own personal Lightroom preset that I’ve developed over the last year and this usually gets me started. Then I tweak each photo and sometimes move photos to Nik or Photoshop for further processing. For this photo, I processed as normal, but didn’t like the results. So I took the photo back to it’s raw state and started again ----- and then I stripped it down and did it yet again, working with each individual slider rather than my preset.
I’d love to see photos where you’ve overcome post-processing challenges.
