Das Paragon Center in der Orchard Road. Es ist ein Einkaufskomplex in dem fast ausschließlich internationale High-Fashion-Labels vertreten sind. Das Dach erinnert etwas an das Olympiastadion in München.
The Paragon Center on Orchard Road. It is a shopping complex in which almost exclusively international high-fashion labels are represented. The roof is somewhat reminiscent of the Olympic Stadium in Munich.
Blick auf die Skyline von Singapur. Im Vordergrund das Wahrzeichen der Stadt, der Merlion. Der Name ist ein aus den englischen Worten mermaid (Meerjungfrau) und lion (Löwe) zusammengesetztes Kunstwort für den Schutzpatron der Stadt, ein Fabelwesen mit Löwenkopf, der Stärke und Furchtlosigkeit symbolisiert, und Fischkörper, der für den Ursprung aus und die Verbundenheit mit dem Meer steht. Im Hintergrund das berühmte Fullerton Hotel. Es wurde zwischen 1924 und 1928 errichtet und dient seinem Zweck al Hotel erst seit 2001. Es ist nach dem ersten Gouverneur der britischen Straits Settlements, Sir Robert Fullerton, benannt.

Singapur es un popular destino turístico, por lo cual el turismo es uno de los sectores económicos más grandes del país. Aproximadamente 7,8 millones de turistas visitaron el país en 2006 y esa cifra subió a 10,2 millones en 2007.
El distrito comercial de Orchard Road es una de las atracciones más famosas que ofrece Singapur. Para atraer a más visitantes, el gobierno decidió en 2005 legalizar el juego y permitir que se construyeran dos casinos o centros turísticos integrados en la zona de Marina South y la isla de Sentosa. Para competir con rivales regionales como Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokio y Shangai, el gobierno dio el permiso de utilizar luces sobre las fachadas de los edificios públicos y privados para que la zona central se transformara en un lugar más emocionante. Asimismo, se ha promovido la comida como elemento de la atracción de Singapur, por lo cual se organiza la Singapore Food Festival cada julio.

Im kolonialzeitlichen Zentrum der Stadt liegt der Pandang, der seit den 1830er-Jahren als Cricket-Platz genutzt wurde und heute von prachtvollen Gebäuden wie dem Rathaus mit seinen 18 korinthischen Säulen umgeben ist. Im chinesischen Viertel Chinatown von ca. 1820 liegt der rot-goldene Buddha Tooth Relic Tempel, in dem sich ein Zahn Buddhas befinden soll. Wikipedia
