Sinclair’s Cottage Fitzroy Gardens

Something new in Winnsboro TX. They took an old gas station and turned it into a beautiful mini restaurant. Food it great.

Construction had begun as early as the late 14th century and the buildings had been added to over the years with the final additions made in the 17th century. But it looks as if they are attempting a bit of restoration work here only to stop any further deterioration. Originally they thought there were two castles here but have realised the two parts were actually all belonging to the same castle - hence the double name.

A few shots along the trail to Sinclair falls, a very handy bridge the trail here heads off up the hill to Radium hot springs.
The site comprises the ruins of two castles: the 15th-century Castle Girnigoe; and the early 17th-century Castle Sinclair. The earlier castle was probably built between 1476 and 1496. Given its isolated position, I can only wonder how on earth they built anything "back in those days". What stories those walls could tell.
