CHILDREN’S JUMPSUIT:
Semi-fitted straight-legged jumpsuit in two lengths has pointed peter pan collar, front zipper closing, shaped patch pockets, elasticized back waistline, attached front belt with purchased belt rings. Topstitch trim. A: has turned back cuffs on short sleeves and legs. B: has short sleeves with rolled-up cuffs. C: has straight full-length sleeves.
Condition: Envelope in poor vintage condition, especially the top of the envelope. Pattern pieces are cut and complete, and in very good condition. Instruction sheet included.
Year: Unknown, but judging by the illustration and style, it is from the 1970s.

A small appliance store front window with many colorful signs, San Jose, California.
This is another in the "walked out my front door and made photographs" series, being a store front that is within a half mile or so of my home. I'm a bit of a fan of photographing the fronts of these small businesses that appear to be anything but chain operations. Each one is its own unique universe and, I assume, reflects the owner's personality in many ways including the cumulative effect of focusing on one small area of the world for many decades. I often wonder what it must be like to live in a world of vacuum cleaners for more than five decades - and I don't mean to imply anything by that question beyond a serious interest in how our primary interests end up influencing how we experience and see the world.
The visual quality of these places also interests me. I can initially simply be overwhelmed by the details that must have accumulated over time - the many brightly colored signs, a few things hung on walls, displays of specialized equipment and materials with brand names I barely recognize. Yet there is a very carefully created order in all of this. It is fun - for me at least! - to spend some time looking at these scenes and starting to pick out the small details that I might not initially notice. (Of course, that is easier with a big print than it is with this little jpg!)

Junior and Misses Dress with Two Skirts and Detachable Collar
Dress has low front V neckline with a vestee, set-in sleeves and a purchased belt. V.1 features a self collar, full gathered skirt and elbow length sleeves. Cuffs fasten with link buttons. V.2 features a slim skirt with soft pleats at front waistline, back kick pleat, short sleeves and a contrasting detachable collar.

The playsuit with back zipper has scoop neckline and elastic casings at leg edges. V. 1 playsuit has short puff sleeves gathered at lower edges with elastic casings. The dart fitted skirt V. 1 and 2 with contrasting facing wraps right over left and fastens at left side with tie belts.

Tucks through the waistline and bodice to skirt are designed for a softly molded silhouette. The neckline is generously V-shaped, the tiny buttons traveling up to meet it are deliberately dainty. The Dolman sleeves lend a smooth shoulder line. Style II adds a bow-tied vestee.
Width around lower edge of dress is about 2 yards for size 14 (32B, 27W, 35H). Finished back length from base of neck to hem of dress for size 14 is 42 inches.
Notions --
Style I--II: prong-type buckle; triangular shoulder pads; matching thread (100 yds.); shields.
Style I: 17 buttons (15 lines 3/8" diam.); braid for loops (optional).
Style II: slide fastener or snap fasteners, hooks and eyes; 1/2" wide elastic.

This is an awesome pattern! This designer fashion, Misses Suit, consists of a dart-fitted skirt, without side seams, has a waistband, back zipper and top-stitched side front seams and pleats. The lined, top-stitched jacket, with notched detail in the side front seam, has a front button closing, collar and long two-piece sleeves with opening and button trim.

Misses' and Women's One-Piece Dress and Cape
The bodice front is styled with a center seam and darts in sunburst effect at waistline. There are center front and back seams in skirt and a sash ties in bow at side. The cape is fashioned with a continuous shoulder and side seam. Bands are attached at shoulder seam to hold cape in place. Style I has a high neckline with front-slit opening and long sleeves. Style II features a cap-type sleeve and V neckline. Style III has a high neck and cap-type sleeve.
