Jump.... in fact this little quail was startled by the piercing squeaking sound of a raptor descending on the covey who were simply enjoying a night out with the family... the whole gang was out of the frame in no time!

20230325_5607_7D2-484 Mistakes Happen (084/365)
I had been setting up to photograph the Garden Orb spider in my backyard when my wife came and said we had to do a delivery run of the granddaughters car seat across town, from one cricket game (where my son was playing) to another venue where two grandsons were playing. I had taken just one pick of the spider at the time (previous pic in my stream).
At the second cricket game I swapped from the 100mm macro to the 150-600mm zoom but had not yet changed any other settings. Ten seconds after getting the camer out of the car, a pair of Spur-winged Plovers (Masked Lapwing in some parts of the world) flew past. I fired off a couple of shots before realising that the camera was still set for f/18 and not f/6.3 or f/7.1, and in AV mode the shutter speed seleced was 1/30 second.
It turned out an OK bird abstract!
