Marco Aurelio, one of the most famous Cesars of Roma...well, the Aurelian (fortification) Walls were famous since Roma's time since they were built with cheap material and were always falling down and not resisting so much the invaders...nevertheless they are still the biggest part of the visible fortification walls of the city.
This horse statue you see here is the exact copy of the original one that is kept in the Musei Capitolini, just 20 meters from the original, but under a roof. Marvellous statue, historical roman simble, it is famous even because it is the biggest Cesar's horse statue that is left from the time of the Empire.
Just to make it even more famous and to give some mor eimportance, Michelangelo Buonarroti designed the whole architecture of the square (Piazza del Campidoglio) in order to build the centre of the modern Roma, from one side, and underline the beauty of the statue, from another point of view.
Thanks Roma, thanks Marco Aurelio and thanks Michelangelo, this is the most beautiful square of the world.
