Spiders always amaze me in just how much silk they can spin. Many areas of the wood are covered in silken shrouds that gleam in soft morning light. It is a bit concerning when you consider just how many there must be! Taken in Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire.

My nephew offered this single silk rose to my mom on her birthday and I thought it was so beautiful and sweet I took a bunch of shots!!! To me it was an interesting study in macros and editing. Hopefully it will make a nice series... :))

Albizia julibrissin. The species is usually called "pink silk tree" or "mimosa" in the United States, which is misleading - the former name can refer to any species of Albizia which is most common in any one locale. The genus is named after the Italian nobleman Filippo degli Albizzi, who introduced it to Europe in the mid-18th century
