The lake is part of the Notre-Dame de Mortemer Abbey, an ancient Cistercian men's abbey founded in 1134 by King Henry Beauclerc, located between Lyons-la-Forêt and Lisors. It was the first Cistercian abbey in Normandy. Most of the original buildings dating from the 11th and 13th centuries are in a state of ruin and were classified as historic monuments.

A long day at my second home in Bregenz/ Austria. I was fascinated by the silhouettes of the playing children in the wonderful sunset light. I shared this unique moment with a lot of other photographers...;)

The summer is back at the Lake Constance. I hope for a little while.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a purple or pink day at Color my World Daily and it case you didn’t notice I’m going with purple this time … And the theme at Smile on Saturday is : silhouettes.

What can I say ? Silhouettes are like vanishing point for me: I have a psychological blocage about those two types of photography. It takes me a crazy amount of time to get « silhouettes » right… or acceptable. Of course, I could always use some Photoshop magic but I want to improve my « silhouettes » technique and not my Photoshop skills… Well this time, I used my window to take my silhouette picture. It wasn’t easy, since my setup was very clumsy: I had to put everything higher in order to avoid to see my window’s frame. So everything was setup on a pyramid of books... My curtains aren’t the best backgrounds for silhouettes and I had to work very fast since the sun doesn’t stay in my window forever ! After all that, I had to use some Photoshop magic to turn everything purple… And voilà ! The result: another egg picture … What ? eggs have the best silhouettes ever !! Dont you think ?
