Silent Bell Monolithos
Jaw-dropping was my overwhelming emotion when I first visited Monolithos.
This fairly remote location took a while to drive to through the mountains but on arrival that was forgotten about.
We parked close to a small taverna below the hill and walked up the picturesque path and steps to the top.
The site was once the location of a castle built by the Knights of Saint John and now
two 15th-century chapels remain St. Panteleimon and St. George.
The day I first visited the site was packed full of balanced stone towers. Im not sure if that had any significance but they were no longer at the site on my two other visits.
The panoramic views from here are simply stunning encompassing the mountains and down over the sea and coastline for miles.
Monolithos is a a location that I feel needs a drone to really capture just how incredible it is.
My plan at some point is to find accommodation near by and head out on one of my morning trips with my drone to capture this incredible place in all its glory.

Jack Mulhall (* 7 October 1887 in Wappingers Falls, New York as John Joseph Francis Mulhall; † 1 June 1979 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California) was an American actor, a film star of the silent film era, whose cinematic oeuvre includes more than 450 film and television productions between 1910 and 1959.
Silent and beautiful street of Mdina.
Mdina, also called the Silent City, is surrounded by fortified walls and sits on top of one of the highest hills of Malta. Built in Medieval times, much of its original architecture has been preserved and its narrow alleys tell tales of centuries of history and the various rulers that governed Malta. Mdina is (tentatively) listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Once past the deep moat, nowadays a public garden, and inside the city’s walls, cobbled streets are lined with immaculately preserved noble houses, private chapels, palazzi, and cathedrals. The streets are narrow and winding, and walking along them feels like trying to find your way out of a maze; a feeling which adds to the element of surprise at finding large squares. Silence pervades, and is the perfect complement to a walk on the bastions, as well as taking in the panoramic view of most of Malta and the surrounding sea.

Penn State York students donned headphones and escaped to their own party place during the Silent Disco on April 11 sponsored by the University Programming Board (UPB). Two DJ's played music and those participating could choose what music to listen to and sing and dance in silence – other than the music flowing though the headphones and the faint voices of friends singing along to their favorite songs.
