When this photo was taken in 2003 the post (made by Maldon Iron Works) was undergoing refurbishment. The work was never completed and it was soon replaced by a modern 'traditional' post.

Ecclesall Woods are situated in the south west of Sheffield, and cover 140 hectares (i.e. around 350 acres). They are the largest semi-natural woodland in South Yorkshire. The woods are an extremely popular visitor destination and are particularly valued for their wildlife, historic and archaeological features.

Another stab at Signpost Cottage. The dusting of snow on the thatch and strong shadows appealed to me.
