Of no great significance the subject matter's purpose here was to reveal the interplay of light and shade. What I saw at this corner was the beauty of the tonal scheme and design.
It wasn't until I received the print from the lab that I appreciated it's inherent rhythm.

Bern Minster (German: Berner Münster) is a Swiss Reformed cathedral, (or minster) in the old city of Bern, Switzerland. Built in the Gothic style, its construction started in 1421. Its tower, with a height of 100.6 m (330 ft), was only completed in 1893. It is the tallest cathedral in Switzerland and is a Cultural Property of National Significance.

Morcote is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Ticino situated about 10 kilometres from Lugano in the district of Lugano on the shore of Lake Lugano.
With its characteristic small alleys, the arcades of old Patrician homes, valuable architectural monuments and its natural beauty, the lakefront position, Morcote is considered "the Pearl of Ceresio".
The Chapel of S. Antonio Abate with its monumental staircase, the Parish Church of S. Maria del Sasso with Oratory, the Cimitero monumentale (Cemetery) and Scherrer Park are listed as Swiss heritage site of national significance. The entire village of Morcote is part of the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites.
Having ranted and raved annually over the past several years about the decreasing significance of this "celebration" even in the face of the increasing significance of its purpose, I thought I would post this futuristic view of what the Earth will look like for the generations that follow us. In fact, it looks very much like parts of China today, no?
I am not an optimist about humanity's ability to stem the tide(s) it has created because of our history of never addressing a problem before it's too late. Certainly that has never been truer than as it relates to our environment, and in the 45 years that has passed since the creation of this day by Senator Gaylord Nelson of my home state of Wisconsin, it has only become worse...ironically with the United States the most obvious of those few avoiding the responsibility and initiative to do anything about anything. One might assume that increasing scientific understanding would create the recognition that we are in a literal self destruct mode and a somewhat desperate reaction to correct it would be evident. But no. Clearly the monied interests are even more in control than ever and will be the parties that oversee our destiny. Cause for optimism indeed. We continue on our historic path of being the first species ever to cause its own extinction...fair retribution, methinks, given the number we carelessly continue to annihilate on a daily basis.

The site of the Dolomites comprises a mountain range in the northern Italian Alps, numbering 18 peaks which rise to above 3,000 metres and cover 141,903 ha. It features some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes anywhere, with vertical walls, sheer cliffs and a high density of narrow, deep and long valleys. A serial property of nine areas that present a diversity of spectacular landscapes of international significance for geomorphology marked by steeples, pinnacles and rock walls, the site also contains glacial landforms and karst systems. It is characterized by dynamic processes with frequent landslides, floods and avalanches. The property also features one of the best examples of the preservation of Mesozoic carbonate platform systems, with fossil records.

Red Bud received it charter in 1867 and was incorporated as a city in 1875. The business of the city government has been conducted in this victorian era city hall building since it was built in 1894. The city hall was designed by St. Louis architect Louis Hormann. The exterior of the city hall has remained basically the same. It houses the city offices, police department and council chambers.
Red Bud's City Hall is a significant building within the Red Bud Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic building has had several renovations. In 1997 the outside received a major facelift. Plans were made for an extensive renovation of the first and second floor. In November of 2005 this renovation was completed at a cost of $1,200,000.
The significance of the elaborate "bill-fencing" ritual of gannets, when one partner returns to the other at the nest, is poorly understood. Its purpose may be either to strengthen the pair bond or to indicate the location of a food source. From a slide.

Chivirico, 75km southwest of Santiago de Cuba and 106km east of Marea del Portillo, is the only town of any significance on the enticing south-coast highway, a roller-coaster of plummeting mountains, crinkled bays and crashing surf that makes up one of Cuba's loveliest road trips and at it end is home of my favorite Caribbean resort Brisas Sierra Mar .
Cuba is one of my favorite places to vacation in the winter it offers great beaches, weather, drinks, amazing people, very few Covidiots and sublime sunsets.
Cubans have done so much with so little for so long that I am sure they are faring well through this mess most likely missing the extra tourist dollars but nobody is hungry and their healthcare system is top notch.

When the Emperor Frederick II built this castle near Bari in the 13th century, he imbued it with symbolic significance, as reflected in the location, the mathematical and astronomical precision of the layout and the perfectly regular shape. A unique piece of medieval military architecture, Castel del Monte is a successful blend of elements from classical antiquity, the Islamic Orient and north European Cistercian Gothic.

The Latvian National Museum of Art is the most important art museum in Latvia and the first building in the Baltics designed specifically for the needs of a museum. Built in 1905. The museum's building is an architectural monument of national significance. It is one of the most impressive historicist buildings in the Riga Boulevard Circle. Following the reconstruction from 2013 to 2016, a new permanent exposition, Latvian Art. 19th–20th Century, has been created. It presents an overview of Latvian art history over the course of two centuries. The aim of the exposition is to build a visual and emotional story of the development of Latvian art by highlighting the most important works and personalities in culture-historical, political and social context.
This is a replica of the original Ferrari 246 Dino F1 Monoposto, chassis 004/R1, built by Greypaul Motors from the only remaining survivor from the period and using parts from the original car, all done on behalf of serial Ferrari collector Sir Anthony Bamford.
Sir Anthony Bamford purchased both the surviving car and the parts from Ferrari in 1971, some 11 years after the car retired from competitive life.
Its not entirely clear what happened to the original 004 chassis, whether it was simply dismantled by Ferrari (but was the car with the most historic significance), or if it was damaged during a race and never rebuilt at the time.

Originally, this was a somewhat uninteresting close-up mobile photo of an old metal scale taken during the winter in Arizona.
Using GIMP, the image was converted to B&W and processed with an illusion map and then a displacement map to add distortion.
Subsequently, in Darktable, a light grain was added and the contrast was bumped to finish the "Weighed Significance" of the image. Happy Slider Sunday!

The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia, known simply as the Sagrada Familia, is a Roman Catholic basilica in Barcelona, Spain, designed by architect Antoni Gaudí. Begun in 1882, it is still under construction (November 2016). It is Gaudí's masterpiece and the greatest exponent of Catalan modernist architecture.
The Sagrada Familia is a reflection of Gaudí's artistic plenitude: he worked on it for most of his professional career, but especially in his later years, where he reached the culmination of his naturalistic style, synthesizing all the solutions and styles he had tried up to that point. Gaudí achieved perfect harmony in the interrelationship between structural and ornamental elements, between plasticity and aesthetics, between function and form, between content and container, achieving the integration of all the arts into a structured and logical whole. The Sagrada Familia has a Latin cross plan, five central naves, a three-aisled transept, and an apse with seven chapels. It boasts three façades dedicated to the Birth, Passion, and Glory of Jesus. When completed, it will have 18 towers: four at each portal, making a total of twelve for the apostles, four over the transept invoking the evangelists, one over the apse dedicated to the Virgin, and the central dome tower in honor of Jesus, which will reach 172.5 meters in height. The first attempt to replace the wooden fort with a stone kremlin was recorded in 1374, but construction was limited to a single tower, known as the Dmitrovskaya Tower (this has not survived). Under the rule of Ivan III, Nizhny Novgorod played the role of a guard city, having a permanent garrison; it served as a place for gathering troops for Moscow’s actions against the Khanate of Kazan. In order to strengthen the defenses of the city, construction works on the walls began again.
Construction of the stone Kremlin of Nizhny Novgorod began in 1500 with the building of the Ivanovskaya Tower; the main work commenced in 1508 and by 1515 a grandiose building was completed. The oak walls that formed the old fortifications were destroyed by a huge fire in 1513. The two kilometer wall was reinforced by 13 towers (one of them – Zachatskaya – was on the shore of the Volga; not preserved, but was rebuilt in 2012). This “Stone City” had a permanent garrison with solid artillery weapons. With the fall of Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin lost its military significance, and later it housed the city and provincial authorities.

During the World War II, the roofs of the Taynitskaya, the Severnaya, and the Chasovaya Towers were dismantled and anti-aircraft machine guns were installed on the upper platforms. Thus, the fortress defended the airspace of the city from the Luftwaffe. The Luftwaffe bombed the Kanavinsky Bridge and the Fair, but the Kremlin's air defense defended these objects.
The Council of Ministers of the RSFSR issued an order on January 30, 1949 for the restoration of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin.
In October 2018, archaeologists discovered the remains of a medieval settlement and cemetery on the site of the destroyed church of St. Simeon Stylites. The finds belong to the 13th century, and the most ancient cultural layer - to 1221, when Nizhny Novgorod was founded. After all the excavations, the exhibits will be museified, and the church of St. Simeon the Stylite will be recreated at this place.
In 2021, before the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod, a major restoration was carried out. Under its terms, the most important thing was the restoration of the historic "battle road" inside the Kremlin wall. The city had been waiting for this event for 230 years. Since August 2021, locals and tourists can walk a full circular route along the large fortress wall while inside it. Its length is 2 km.
In the past, the significance of Bangkok and Ayutthaya was due to their stratagic locations on the banks of the river. As ports of call frequented by mercantile ships from foreign lands, these two major towns prospered and bacame trading centers for international trade and communications in addition to their status as the kingdom's capital cities.
From Ayutthaya and Bangkok, ships were built locally left with goods from Thailand to be sold overseas. In the old days. Thai junks like this used to be moored along the banks of the Chao Phraya River from the estuary in Samut Prakan Province all the way up to Bangkok. They gradually disappeared some 50 years ago.
The Theatro Municipal (built in 1911) is one of the most important theaters of the city and one of the postcards of São Paulo, both for its eclectic architectural style, similar to the most important theaters in the world, inspired by the Paris Opera, as for its historical significance because it was the Modern Art Week stage 1922, the landmark of Modernism in Brazil.

Pelicans are a genus of large water birds that make up the family Pelecanidae. They are characterised by a long beak and a large throat pouch used for catching prey and draining water from the scooped-up contents before swallowing. They have predominantly pale plumage, the exceptions being the brown and Peruvian pelicans. The bills, pouches, and bare facial skin of all species become brightly coloured before the breeding season. The eight living pelican species have a patchy global distribution, ranging latitudinally from the tropics to the temperate zone, though they are absent from interior South America and from polar regions and the open ocean. Pelicans frequent inland and coastal waters, where they feed principally on fish, catching them at or near the water surface. They are gregarious birds, travelling in flocks, hunting cooperatively, and breeding colonially. Four white-plumaged species tend to nest on the ground, and four brown or grey-plumaged species nest mainly in trees. The relationship between pelicans and people has often been contentious. The birds have been persecuted because of their perceived competition with commercial and recreational fishing. Their populations have fallen through habitat destruction, disturbance, and environmental pollution, and three species are of conservation concern. I find it interesting that certain flowers hold significance depending on the culture in which it grows. Anemone flowers have always meant one thing to me....the arrival of spring and the opportunity to celebrate the most glorious center of a flower I've ever seen. The petals are paper thin, reminding me of tracing paper....with the center enticing me to move even closer.
