Skipper (Dikkopje)

We were given an amaryllis as a gift and it is now in full bloom and absolutely gorgeous. This doesn't do it justice. I like the shallow DoF in this shot but it could be a tad sharper.

This week has just been crazy and I'm way behind. It seems I've only been able to find time for photography for a few hours each week. I hope to get to everyone's streams but it might take a while. I apologize in advance.

The quadrangle (Libellula quadrimaculata) is a real dragonfly from the family of corn bolts (Libellulidae). The square is quite common in both the Netherlands and Belgium. The species is found in large parts of Europe, except in the south of Italy, Greece, Iceland and the north of Norway. He is also found in North America.

I have not done macro for sometime.

I missed these little things!

Have a great Sunday!

Just repost of an archive picture in 2010.

Another dandelions composition!

Have a great week ahead!

I love taking pictures of small things. Here are my other macro pictures.

The emerald dragonfly (Cordulia aenea) is a species of dragonfly from the glossy dragonfly family (Corduliidae), subordered real dragonflies (Anisoptera).

Please view large! There is a whole bunch of flowers visible in the water drops.

Have a wonderful weekend!

By far the largest horsefly I've ever seen at 1 1/2 inches or 38mm.

I wouldn't want to be bitten by this bloodletting insect . .

Taken on our garden pond. There were a couple of males about but I didn't get a decent shot of them.

First damsel / dragonfly picture of the year on our pond. I'll have to spend a bit more time pond-watching and see what else turns up.

One of the many icicles hanging from the roof after all the snow. I think I would have preferred the drop to be in focus. I'll have to remember that for next time.

Thankfully, the roads are finally plowed and passable. We've been able to get out since last Sunday. There is the possibility of freezing rain on Monday. This has been a fun winter:)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Enjoyable time spent with Roy Rimmer photographing wasps. Not for those of a nervous disposition or allergic to wasp stings!

再次重遊光明寺,還是覺得拍不夠@@

This spider web with morning dew could have been more adequate last week for the "abstract" theme, but I was not available ;-)

HMM!

Edit: Thanks everybody!! I had neither expected position #5 in Explore nor so many views, comments and favs. Much appreciated.

Blue-tailed Damselfly (Ischnura elegans) - immature male

Australian Flatwing (Austroargiolestes icteromelas)

I had a bit of annual leave and got my camera back from repairs so decided to spend a morning taking some photographs. I found a nearby stream and set up a camping chair and just waited and watched the wildlife and occasionally took some photos. Whilst waiting and enjoying the tranquility I came across this damselfly which landed on a nearby rock and could not resist taking some photos. This is a stack of about 8 photos which were taken handheld in quick succession and stacked in Helicon focus. Camera settings were 1/1000 sec, f/5.0, ISO 640, and I used the Sony A7R 4 and the Sigma 150mm Macro. I am not great with species ID but I believe this is an Australian / Common Flatwing (Austroargiolestes icteromelas) based on the morphology.

Not every bokeh is the same and equal (just like the animal in animal farm and human in our world). Some seem to be more appealing to me.

I saw this bokeh of reflection in Minoru Park last winter.

Happy weekend my friends!

This is one of our flowering red plum blossoms!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Finally we have a few rain drops in Vancouver in this weekend.

It is my morning ritual to have some macro meditation with the droplets and textures in close up under the overcast sky.

These drops are not enough yet to relieve the watering restrictions in Vancouver area after the extremely dry weather in the recent months. However it is still good to get some refreshers for me.

Wish you a very nice Sunday!

The maples are as red as blood. I had a short walk in my neighbourhood and made a fall composition as my little tribute to the fallen soldiers who sacrificed for our country.

This is a dry and nice afternoon.

Have you checked out the fall colour in your neighbourhood?

They are about to go away soon!

Have a great Remembrance Day!
