happy new week .......

all will be happy

and listen : Don't Worry Be Happy

Here′s a little song I wrote

You might want to sing it note for note

Don't worry be happy

In every life we have some trouble

But when you worry you make it double

Don′t worry be happy

Don't worry be happy now.......

Steven & Allison...putting up with me....their great kids..40-30 yrs old

Unearthed in a box in the garage I re-discovered my first telephoto lens. A 1974 Soligor 250mm fixed focal length pre-set lens

Between 1974 and 1996 it went everywhere with me mounted on a trio of Zenith E and EM cameras and together we saw some sights!

To operate it, the determined aperture between f32 and f4.5 was set and then spinning the silver ring the aperture was opened to the maximum to focus and then before taking the photo, the ring was then spun again in the opposite direction to achieve the selected aperture and the shutter pressed

Of course I then had to wait another couple of weeks until Kodak or whoever's slides I was using,

developed and returned them.

At that point I could see whether:

I'd got the shot

I'd set the wrong exposure

I'd set the wrong shutter speed

I'd forgotten to spin the ring

I'd forgotten to wind on

I'd got to the end of the film

I'd set the wrong ASA

The Zenith E had it's light meter directly over the lens which with this longer apparatus would receive reflected light and give spurious exposure readings

It also had a screw thread so swapping lenses from the standard 56mm wasn't easy or quick!

To make a cheap lens hood I cut out a section from a Washing-up liquid bottle and painted the result black

Those were the days
