Downtown Grand Rapids...I can't read the artist name. I think this might have been painted several years ago due to wear.
Thanks for views, comments and favs :)
Today is the 16th day of Valentine's month of February. My gift to you today is a collection of the many varied arts I love. Unfortunately, not all the arts I love are represented, even if many are here.

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
Pablo Picasso
Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time."

If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.
Edward Hopper
Creativity takes courage.
Henri Matisse
In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it.
Ernst Fischer
I have no fear of making changes, destroying the image, etc., because the painting has a life of its own.
Jackson Pollock
I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for.

Exploring Downtown Baker City, Oregon
A fun day exploring downtown Baker City and enjoying all the public art, historic architecture and watching local artists at work during the annual Chalk It Up To Art celebration.
The small towns of Baker County offer a cornucopia of local and independent small businesses, many featuring locally crafted products that are made in, and in some cases can only be found in Baker County.
Baker City's historic downtown is one of the largest intact turn of the 20th century historic districts in the American West with over 100 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. today the downtown has been lovingly restored and the historic district is now a thriving downtown home to numerous art galleries, restaurants, micro breweries and local independently owned shops, making it the perfect destination for celebrating the holidays and shopping small unique businesses.

A popular culture quote often attributed to Frida, though she never said it. Roughly translated: “Fall in love with yourself, with my tequila, and then with whoever you want.”

Sidewalk art seen in McMinnville, Oregon! They have just celebrated UFO Fest!

I took this picture in Oaxaca during one of my neighborhood walks. The mural is on a busy street, but fortunately, the curb in front of it is painted yellow, so cars can't park there and block the view. I lingered across the street for a few minutes as people passed by, and I was able to capture a few shots.

My wife and I recently visited Galena, a touristy town in northwest Illinois. One of the newest attractions there is a statue of Ulysses S. Grant seated on a bench in a local park. The statue was unveiled last fall and is seen here on the right.
Grant, a prominent Union General during the U.S. Civil War, lived in Galena prior to and after the war until his election as the 18th president of the United States in 1868.
Our Daily Challenge: "Sights or Sightseeing"
And there's some fencing here as well, so I'll say HFF too.
México City. I will be traveling in Mexico in February and March. I hope to take some great photos to share.
On this hot summer's day chalk artists filled a downtown Hillsboro Street to create they their wonderful drawings based on the theme "Yesterday's Tomorrow". We'll be back tomorrow to see the completed art!

hawk and i went for a walk yesterday morning where he shared with me his signature shooting style. (he simply drops his camera to the ground and just clicks...where he successfully captures fresh, new perspectives.) it's easy to hate him...hehehe!
here i am trying to recreate the work of fellow flicker-ite siebe...(who also has a signature style and shoots specifically with the 30mm). .

Sidewalk curb art near a sewer grate in Grand Rapds.
Art By Rose Hunt
Thanks for views, comments and favs :)
Sidewalk art on the streets of Grand Rapids...a turtle carrying many Grand Rapids landmarks and buildings. I don't know who the artist is, however I think it might be an ArtPrize entry from last year.
This is one of many works of art, painted on sidewalk curbs near sewer grates, scattered throughout downtown Grand Rapids.
