A Banded Dotterel, Charadrius bicinctus, walking over beach stones. They were quite aggressive so I suspect they had young or a nest nearby.
They are a member of the plover family, and are fairly common sight on New Zealand beaches, although their tiny size would mean they are often over looked.

Cherries are known for their abundance of antioxidants as well as natural healing properties for joint complaints. Though we won't disagree with the experts, we just think they are gorgeous. Don't even try to resist the gravitational pull of this diaper. With purple, red, and berry stars on a charcoal black knit background, it's going to be hard to achieve escape velocity on this one. In this photo I really wanted to capture the different angles of the eye. I think the different angles of the eye really help not only add interest to the photo but makes the eye and its colouring stand out that much more. Another thing I like about this photo is how everything but the eye is slightly out of focus. This really helps you just focus on the eye.
