Turning in the side mirrors not only prevents them from being torn of from other cars, in narrow streets (which I assume is a bigger problem in french cities than Norwegian), but only makes it possible to see if you remembered to lock your car, at a glance, even from a distance.
This is an autostitch of 3 pictures made in the alley between the courthouse and the brick building. Somewhere under the snow is the curb where my uncle and my sister stood so many years ago for a snapshot one Sunday morning. To the left of the tree you can see the steeple of the Catholic Church that they attended that morning. It's closer than this pan makes it appear. I should have taken a few steps to the left to get more of the front of the courthouse in the picture but I'll save that for next year.

Upon completion in 1902 it was one of the tallest buildings in New York City. The building sits on a triangular island block at 23rd Street, Fifth Avenue, and Broadway, anchoring the south (downtown) end of Madison Square.
The neighborhood around the building is called the Flatiron District after its signature building, which has become an icon of New York.
