For years this old, 19th century building held out as a squatter's haven against the tide of "renovating", "upgrading" but really the general spoiling of Alkmaar's old waterfront.
Brightly painted and bubbling with 'underground' activity, the building, called 'de Raad', saw the construction of the new city council offices across the street (see background) and the disappearance of many other old landmarks.
Now, after a long, long struggle the squatters have finally lost and left and the demolition of this fine, old building is progressing rapidly. Pretty soon there will be nothing left of it. What will take its place? Expensive apartments of course that will make a bundle for the realty developers...
It's a shame and I have started a (partly non-linear) set to celebrate de Raad's past and commemorate the free spirits that kept it alive for so long!

This is a portrait, so to speak, of a beautiful Red Kangaroo. (I took this photo at Australia Zoo near Brisbane.) He was resting and didn't mind me, so I got to come up very close! You can see all the details of his fur and even his eyelashes - what a gorgeous animal.

There are some tracks that suggest their were more people involved in this shooting. Where are they now? And did Cobra take prisoners or were these two rogue commandos on a secret mission?
The Joe's have to be carefull, there could be more Cobra's nearby, and it isn't sure the other party is friendly either. Will the Joe's be able to get away and report to HQ?

This diaper's cotton woven outer, snaps, serging, and inner velour were all chosen by a customer as part of a custom diaper order.
This is an autostitch of 3 pictures made in the alley between the courthouse and the brick building. Somewhere under the snow is the curb where my uncle and my sister stood so many years ago for a snapshot one Sunday morning. To the left of the tree you can see the steeple of the Catholic Church that they attended that morning. It's closer than this pan makes it appear. I should have taken a few steps to the left to get more of the front of the courthouse in the picture but I'll save that for next year.
