During the day, the Pancake Rocks in New Zealand show themselves in very bright yellow tones. Only during sunrise and sunset they display their color splendor. However, you need some luck to enjoy these colors, because the west coast of the South Island is known for its torrential rains that can last for days and weeks of gray skies.
How lucky I was to have a week of good weather in the New Zealands autumn and be able to take a few pictures in the morning at sunrise at this iconic place, even though the sun rises behind the mountains of Punakaiki at this time of year.
If you want to spend more time with the picture: A sign on the circular path of the Pancake Rocks shows figures and faces especially for this rock, which you can visualize with a little imagination.

Small old pocket watch. The area in the lower right corner is lit by reflected light from the lower inner mirror cover that is flipped down against the front cover. All light originates from the left from a flashlight.

I dropped my little spoon
and it broke in two.
The little flower
has lost it power.
I tried to catch it with all my might,
but alas I captured it in sidelight.
I found this small patch of wild sunflowers yesterday afternoon. There was quite a bit of cloud cover so I was very happy when the sun peeked out and gave me a little bit of sidelight. Hope you all have a great week.

Malham is a village in the Yorkshire Dales, it was established in the 7th century but the present village dates back to the 17th century and the structure has changed little since that time.
Malham Cove is a limestone pavement, formed after the last ice age by meltwater. The cliffs are 80m high by 300m across and are amongst the top ten geological wonders of Britain.
For some time I have wanted to photograph this area, so with good light forecast yesterday I decided to give it a try. After a 90 minute drive and a short climb I arrived at the rocks and within a few minutes, I slipped on the treacherous surface, fell backwards cracked my head on a rock (I've got a massive lump) and cut my hand.
Undeterred, I carried on and got my shot!

Seems easy but no matter how much you try there are still times when you fail... there are still times when the glass is half empty...
That's when you learn from mistakes and take only what helps you evolve...
We live in the present, learn from experience and dream of the future...
We are responsible to make our dreams a reality... It might not be easy... but that's just how the journey is...

Thick and dark rainclouds has piled up above this little pine tree at mt. Old Wildstone in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. But near the horizon, where the sun is about to set, a small gap is still open. Through this, the tree is now getting immersed in a wonderful warm light. Even if this is only a tree, I couldn’t resist to shoot that beautiful view.

Lindisfarne Castle / Holy Island, Northumberland, England
Well I recently posted a pre-sunrise image from here www.flickr.com/photos/184798091@N07/52339769103/in/datepo... and a short while later the scene above unfolded where the sun sneaked through a gap in the clouds and shone some gorgeous sidelight on Lindisfarne Castle. You saw what it did to the boat I posted yesterday. I'd have liked to do a long exposure for the water but the boats were moving too much and I was concerned the light might go any second. All-in-all a great first sunrise in Northumberland!

My place, said the egg. The vase is too beautiful for you simple flowers. Plucked the delicate flowers from the vase. Hopped on the neck of the vase, draped a feather for a seat cushion, and enjoyed the view. I am not sure if I agree with this. Pretty selfish, the egg. And I think these delicate flowers, which bloom all summer long, are extremely wonderful.
The white vase is from my mother, like the other small vases – she bequeathed it to me and said she doesn't need it anymore ... I thought that beautiful. I really like the profile of the thoughtful-looking couple.

Sometimes You just need to have luck.
My visit on the Bastei Rocks in the elbe sandstone mountains was total sponanious on that evening, without any preparation.
When I stood up there and I saw how far right the sun will set, I was quite sure that the valley will be in dark shadows far before anything interesting will happen at the sky. At this moment it was slightly raining and what You see here, was more gray than anything else. But than, close before the sun would disappear completely, the rain clouds were rupturing, at the perfect position.
That effected two beautiful things. A beam of light, like a giant floodlight, made the woodlands glow for a moment and the sky started to shine in the most beautiful colours. You can't plan things like that, and this is all correct as it is.
