The plan was to take a walk down to the waterfall, but nobody wanted to walk. So I had to settle for photos in the field a few 100 yards from the falls - problem is that Chico didn't want to cooperate with photos either. If you look closely, you can see that he's looking at me out of the corner of his eye, so he knew that I wanted him to look at me, but he was being defiant, as usual.
She was keeping an eye on me as I approached and slid into the water before I got any closer. I like the way the water looks in this shot.

This is the same little jumping spider (Salticidae spp.) I found earlier. I managed to get great focus on an eye, just... not the correct one! It's rare you'll see a jumping spider shot that isn't head on, so I figured I'd share. Those massive orbs upfront get all the attention, but these posterior lateral eyes help him sense motion from behind and beside! This keeps him alert and safe while he's out being adorable and killing small bugs. This shot was captured with my Vivitar (Komine) 90mm f2.8 Macro in 1:1, attached to 26mm of extension tubes.
EDIT: After a bit of research, I believe him to be a Colonus spp., most likely a male Colonus sylvanus. Tags updated accordingly!
