Mars is well past its closest approach to Earth this opposition and is decreasing in size as it moves away from our planet.
Now at 13 arcseconds in size it will soon be too far for me to pickup any significant details on its disk with my 155mm refractor. But it has been a great opposition this year and Mars has provided me with plenty of good views.

With the help of my vacuum cleaner I'm getting very tightly shrink-wrapped and hold in place. The feeling when the air is sucked out and the foil contracts closely around my body is very impressive. The fxation is awesome, but with the thin foil I used I could still move a bit (the thin foil was a good choise because I had always the opportunity to rip the foil to escape in an emergency). This was a lot of fun to do!
In the first place I thought about having this set for gallery 200 but I want to share it now :-) Suggestions for the Nr. 200, anyone?
Safety note: Do not do this alone! Risk of suffocation!
you should see the bigger image on flickr... and the whole gallery at my website!

Wonky stars -- quilted, made into pillows, and washed up to get them nice and shrinkly.
Carolyn and Nova -- please note that I did not prewash these! And, the pattern of shrinkling supports Carolyn's idea that the parts with closer quilting are more shrinkly.
These will go on this bed.
(Excuse the crappy pic -- snapped this before work this morning, will try for better one later.)

The result of using permanent oil pen is much better than the acrylic, so i just post the photo of using the permanent oil pen.
the actual objects are much smaller, coz it's my first time to play, i can't estimate how small it is after shrinked, but it's quite interesting and fun.
on the "bubi" object, i try to cut a little hole, so it can be a keyholder.
Those little objects can be used in the board games or monopoly games :)
and i jus think of another interesting ideas, will make it next time :))
We just had our first snowfall ... not a lot but enough for someone in this neighbourhood to make the first snowman of the season. With warmer weekend temperatures, the poor fellow has begun to shrink.
