At about 12:10 PM Wednesday, Jan 20, 2021 this cartoon will be shredded. I'm not sure what date it ran in "The New Yorker" where I found it and cut it out but I beleive it was sometime in 2017, probably before Julie and I were married. It spoke to me then of the emptiness I felt regarding my president and his band of hangers-on or whatever we call the people around him. Emptiness, sadness, fear, .. all of that.
I don't want to speak ill of anyone but the past several years have been unsettling in the political arena here in my country, the US of A. the past 2 weeks have been downright frightening but also peppered with a few instances of fine political courage and gumption. You don't need me to spell out any of this for you.
so when our new president has successfully taken the 35 word oath of office to end the reign of the 45th president I will breathe a bit easier. A bit. We'll see how it all goes after that.
God Bless us all. Everyone.
Tony Trujillo of San Francisco grinds over a board held by "Manramp" during the Skyline Skate Jam atop San Francisco’s Twin Peaks.
Identified as Eucalyptus propinqua - grey gum or small-fruited grey gum, endemic to eastern Australia.
'though Eucalyptus major , also known as "Grey gum", is very similar.
Clever Nature, shedding eucalypt tree bark helps keeping the tree healthy: as the tree sheds its bark, it also sheds any mosses, lichens, fungi... and also generates mulch for itself!
When I saw that the set description for the Turtle Lair lists "shredding the ramp" as one of the play features, I couldn't help but imagine this scene.

Shred
Nikonos V, 35mm lens, Fujichrome Velvia, f5.6, Shutter Speed 1000
After some diving over the 4th, I took my camera with a half a roll of film down to the beach, hoping there was something to shoot. I was not dissapointed. I came across four guys at the public beach access surfing, and waded out to take some shots of them. Unfortunately they finally got comfortable being photographed and coming in close to me right as I ran out of film. This was the last picture on the roll, and by far my favorite shot of the day. This was a fun shoot, and an opportunity I hope to get again soon.
