"On November 4th, 2008 Proposition 8 passed, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.
In the wake of the defeat, there has been a groundswell of initiative from within the community at grassroots level. Seizing this opportunity, new political and protest organizatitions are forming almost daily. The NOH8 Campaign is a photo project & silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct reponse to the passage of Proposition 8.
The campaign started with portraits of everyday Californians who support Marriage Equality and soon rose to celebrities, military personnel, brothers & sisters, law enforcement, lesbian mothers, directors, politicians, newlyweds, and more, Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths symbolizing their voices not being heard and NOH8 painted on one cheek in protest. Armed Forces Day is an opportunity to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty's Armed Forces. Also, it gives the nation an opportunity to 'Show Your Support' for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets.

This image has special meaning to me. It was taken in one of my favorite spots here in Pittsburgh. It also hung in a local gallery show that my friend Dean headlined. Well, Dean is a friend in need. A group has been started to try to help him out. The story and proper links are below.
This image is a dedication to him. It also serves as a reminder that life is short and can take you by suprise at times. This is also one of the images I have put up for sale to help in Dean's effort.
Help relight The Photosuperstar is a group effort with one purpose in mind - to come to the aid of a fellow photographer, a good friend, a fine person who recently suffered a great loss and now finds himself lacking the voice that he so desperately needs to express himself as an artist and as a person. This person some of us know quite well, most people will have never met this person before but may know of him and appreciate him through his fine art photography here @ Flickr and elsewhere and some folks, well, you might relate to him simply for the fact you and he share the same passion and love of photography.
I am speaking of Dean M. Beattie or Photosuperstar.
On Saturday, January 13, 2007 Dean was the victim of a smash-grab theft here in Pittsburgh, PA that cost him everything he owns in terms of camera bodies, gear and Mac laptops. A sum that totals almost $10,000. A sum that his insurance company will not cover. Not one penny.
A group of friends have banded together to right this wrong and have assembled an effort to help Dean out, lend a hand to someone who needs a helping hand right about now, in such a time of great distress and loss.

Remember Rod Roddy on "The Price Is Right?" He was a victim of male breast cancer and although he thought he had beaten it, it returned and he has "come on down" for the last time.
Closer to home, my cousins Ray and Sandy who live in Texas (and also are sisters) have both had a bout with breast cancer and thankfully have been able to beat it.
Please, show your support by posting your shots to the Passionately Pink For The Cure group. Let's all end not only breast cancer, but cancer of all kinds.
This is a shot from Jack and my engagement part last May. I am posting this now because my Aunt (who is standing on my right) is a breast cancer survior for 7 years now.
She showed amazing courage and faced her illness with dignity. I will never forget when she started chemo she said well my hair is going to fall out I might as well shave it all off (this is a women who won't leave the house with makeup and Tiffany jewelry mind you lol). She barely wore her wig and even when the radiation prooved to be to painful she still went out every day. She never stopped being herself and always had a smile and kind word. My aunt never let on how sick she was and for this I respect her. She is a strong brillant woman (like her younger sister my Mother) and I am proud to call her my Aunt.
Please remember to do a self breast exam once a month it may save your life. Mamogram yearly girls.
