barrier-free bathroom for aging in place and in style

A piece of rigid plastic is filling in for the missing tiles so that we can use the shower for now.

This is a shot of the master shower with special accent tile. It's an inexpensive way to give your shower and updated look.

This shower conversion turned out beautiful. Ohh, if you could have only seen the before photos! What a change!

Removed the shower curtains and installed 3 new shower doors.

We've never seen more insects and flying things in our house in our lives. My parents lived not 5 miles from here and I never saw anything like this in their houses. The exterminator came and said: "Get used to it. You're on the Cape". I didn't like that answer. We relocated two spiders from our ceiling to our back deck last night at 1:30 a.m. I don't want spiders sliding down onto my face in the middle of the night. This thing just showed up in the tub tonight -- they're huge and look like mosquitoes. They're like 2 inches across sometimes. You can HEAR them fly but they've never caused a problem. He's a goner and I suspect this poor fellow just pooped out and figured Matt's shampoo cluster was as dignified a resting place as any.

There are very nice things about Cape living and some really weird things too.

We took this wonderul bunch of kids down to Shower Falls on a recent camp at one of the sites we use. It's a special place and the kids love it!

Inside the shower. Notice the different color tiles. The shower pan was fixed a while back.

This shower enclosure feature dual storage niches, and a comercial shower pan.

Part of an order for a baby shower - delicate Madagascan Vanilla cupcakes topped with handmade baby-themed sugarpaste decorations. Inspiration for the designs from the wonderful photos shared on this site.

Bathfitters & our old to new shower

Tuesday evenings sunset was something really special as a light shower passed over as the sun was low on the horizon giving some wonderful lighting.

This is a shot taken from Low Hauxley looking North towards Amble.

I took around 200 shots over the hour and a half that Mel and I spent watching the sun go down at this location so will be posting more shots.

This image is a combination of two exposures, one exposed for the foreground and one exposed for the sky. The two images where combined manually in Photoshop Elements 9 using layers and masks before boosting contrast slightly then resizing and a slight sharpening.

Pete, hard working man that he is, came home from work today ***AGAIN*** and worked for another three and a half hours on our shower! The results were what you see here. A few more days and it'll start getting used. :)

Our shower has been leaking down onto the kitchen ceiling, so we finally had to start taking it apart to redo. That's going to be fun!

Taking a shower while sitting on a toilet takes some getting used to. You also have to turn on the hot water yourself. Warm up the boiler 10 minutes before you use it. Good thing I was traveling with someone young as most people my age would have a fit the bathroom wasn't in their room. To me the hotel just has to be clean and safe. I would rather have more days than blow the bank on upscale rooms. Hong Kong can be very expensive if you don't watch it. This place was in a prime location, next to the metro, for 35 bucks a night for a double room I think you'd be hard pressed to find something of this value in Hong Kong.

Shower rain : Sweden

That was an awesome shower head, it came from straight above you...wonderful idea. But, the overall shower setup was confusing because there was no curtain or sliding door, there was only this sort of halfway-thing, so water always would just soak the bathmat and the rest of the floor. Stupid.
