Lugar al que tenía muchas ganas de ir a fotografiar para mostrar mi visión personal del mismo. Mientras en Bizkaia la luz era un churro, al ir acercándome a Donosti la cosa iba cambiado claramente a mejor.

Para ser honestos la foto se puede decir que es a medias con mi amigo @jorgereyazabal que me llevó al lugar y me animó y ayudó a encaramarme a las rocas desde donde está hecha la foto. Con mucho cuidado si os animáis a ir. Gracias Jorge!!!.

En cuanto a la foto aposté todo a ese encuadre, esperando la luz adecuada sin moverme del sitio. La idea que tenía en la cabeza es que la luz del sol viniera hacia mi y tiñera todo de su color. Eso para la próxima vez que vaya.

Por lo demás, recuperando sensaciones perdidas en los últimos meses fotográficamente hablando 💪💪

Levantarse a las 4:45 para fotografiar esta conocida localización, y más después haber estado un par de veces en ella es de locos. Ahora pensaréis que viene el pero, pero no. Es de locos. Solo los que lo vivimos con la misma intensidad me entenderéis. Seguramente si hubiera ido 1 hora más tarde no hubiese conseguido este ambiente en edición, aunque la verdad es que buscaba otra cosa, pero se dio vagamente. Intenté alguna panorámica y alguna otra en las pozas que hay detrás del puente, pero con lo que me gustan estas atmósferas no me he podido resistir.

Sin lugar a dudas el lugar más bestia de Euskadi y alrededores es este del cañón de Delika desde donde se puede ver cómo te viene encima el salto del Nervión, al que no le hace falta presentación. Madrugamos @jorgereyazabal , @rafadiez78 y yo mismo para intentar pillar color en el cielo, pero la previsión se retrasó y nos llevamos los picos teñidos del color del sol. Cuando llegamos hasta allí me llevé una grata sorpresa al encontrarme con @jesusrsrc . Otro tan loco como nosotros

Ya hace algún tiempo que he dado libertad a mi cerebro para disparar en horizontal. Cuántas fotos chulas habré perdido por la tiranía de Instagram. El limitarte a disparar para ellos (o lo que es lo mismo, a trabajar gratis para ellos) coarta nuestra creatividad. En esta ocasión he querido centrarme en los colores, en concreto verdes y morados. Como los primeros guerreros que protegen este histórico pueblo riojano escoltado por los montes Obarenes que le dan ese aspecto tan cinematográfico.

La foto la saqué y edité hace un par de años y la rescato estos días al recordármela la visita que le hice ayer, incluida su increíble cresta.

Y 6 días después volvimos al mismo lugar en busca de las condiciones que se nos habían negado en la primera. Esta vez el agua corría limpia y pudimos entrar al río (eso si, con mucho cuidado ya que la corriente era fuerte aún, resbalaba muchísimo y no dejaba de llover). La verdad que la mayor parte del tiempo la dediqué a esta foto. Todos los helechos bailaban al ritmo que marcaba el aire que salía por la fuerza que traía el agua, sobre todo el helecho hiperactivo del primer plano. Metidos ahí en ese agujero la luz brillaba por su ausencia así que la velocidad de disparo tenía que ser lo suficiente rápida como para que no se moviera pero lo suficientemente lenta para que el agua tuviera un pelín de seda (no me entusiasma demasiado la seda, pero al menos dar al agua esa sensación de movimiento y fuerza. Además el diafragma cerradito para poder enfocar algo más sobre todo el helecho. Siempre que puedo, y como en este caso, intento que las fotos sean en un solo disparo para no complicarme mucho después a la hora de editar. Con esas condiciones y parámetros, os podéis imaginar que ISO usado es un disparate, pero para eso está. Adivinarías su valor?

Una visita fugaz a esta cascada antes de que se despidiera la primavera. La conocía de verla en verano, pero estoy seguro de que un mes antes tenia que haber unas cuantas flores más porque las que se mantenían estaban bien chulas. Fue un día lluvioso, pero de vez en cuando salía el sol y se colaba algún rayo. Como cada día me gusta más trabajar la luz en edición (eso no significa que me salga bien…) lo aproveché para darle un toque más onírico intentando además que se intuya que el arco que se ve encina de la cascada es un puente que la naturaleza se ha encargado de tapizar con el paso del tiempo

Así te sientes y se ve el mundo desde allí arriba. El cordal de los montes de Valnera con el Castro como techo y emblema se divisa al fondo y se disfruta desde las alturas. Primera foto editada de las varias salidas que hice junto a @mardonss y @alberto.lopez.7355079 estos pasados días de fiesta. Con ellos da gusto salir de excursión 😊

En cuanto a la foto es una panorámica hecha a 25mm para que los montes del fondo tuvieran algo más de presencia y de más de 100 fotos bracketing incluido.

Destacar un par de cosas:

1. Tuve que repasar uno de los valiosísimos video tutoriales sobre el manejo de ptgui de los muchos que tiene @ivanferrerofotografia para colocarme en la foto con una facilidad pasmosa. Gracias Ivan!! Su canal de YouTube y discord son una maravilla. Súper recomendables ambos.

2. Es la primera foto que edito siguiendo parte del flujo de trabajo que @danielvgphoto me enseñó hace ya unos meses en un one to one y que no había tenido la oportunidad de practicar aún. Contactar con el si queréis dar un salto en la edición porque es un gran profe. Súper recomendable también

Happy anniversary to one of my favorite places in the world. John Muir’s “Range of Light”, Yosemite, was set aside by the federal government, #onthisdayinhistory , 135 years ago. This action predates the founding of the National Park Service and even Yellowstone’s incorporation as the first National Park. Yosemite came before all of that, set aside under the care of California, for all to enjoy. For me, Yosemite is the place of quiet contemplation and spiritual grandeur that really threw my love of the National Parks into overdrive. It is the best example of what ‘America’s best idea’ is and an inspiration to the world. And today, in 2025, The National Park Service is woefully underfunded, understaffed, abused, and at the whims of a hostile government that is shut down. The park, however, isn’t. Yosemite will remain open, a blessing for those who visit respectfully, but at the whims of those who will abuse and misuse their public lands. Once these places are ruined, they are gone. Once they are misused, they are damaged. We must continue to honor them. We must continue to fight for them. Anything less is capitulation to a government that expects your compliance to a system that is designed to favor the few over the many and totally discount the true meaning of what Yosemite stands for and represents. Speak up. Be a light for the Range of Light.

Una muy fría mañana la que pasamos @alaingarciago y el que escribe la del sábado pasado. Nos calentamos corriendo de aquí para allá en busca de las pocas nubes que cogieron algo de color y las lánguidas olas que nos venían a visitar hasta la orilla muy de vez en cuando. Unas rocas que no conocía en persona pero que me impactaron nada más verlas en foto. Formación más típica quizá de la costa asturiana que de la vasca. El caso es que ni la marea ni el cielo acompañaron como debían, pero, como dije antes. Las puntas de la roca me encantan. Lo mejor de esa mañana, el spray que levantaban las olas al llegar a la costa. Así que tocará volver en mejores condiciones. Allá por verano y marea más baja y movida…

One last @mesaverdenps shot for the road- we didn’t see much wildlife on this trip, but we did get to see one of the animals I was eager to see! A collared lizard darting over the rocks and looking to warm up and sun himself in the summer heat.

Don’t be fooled by the recent “make America beautiful again” executive order that’s been signed in the face of the budget bill being passed and seemingly restoring funding for the parks that’s been cut. It’s just a political maneuver to make this administration look like it has to solutions to problems that it has created. Keep calling and speaking out.

Mesa Verde is in the southwestern corner of Colorado was constructed throughout the thirteenth century by cliff-dwelling Ancestral Puebloans. Cliff Palace, which is the largest cliff-dwelling in North America, is believed to have sustained a population of about 100 people until a drought lasting longer than two decades forced relocation. Today is #indigenouspeoplesday, marking a day to reflect on and celebrate the people of America, who, quite literally, were here first and are still here, to this day. Every group in America, besides them, are immigrants to this land. Today’s society did not passively inherit this land from indigenous societies; history’s long and bloody and gloomy shadow hangs over this continent. Today’s commemoration really encompasses and encapsulates what the mission of most National Parks aim to accomplish: to preserve history at its most unbiased and to show where we have come from and where we are going. When we reflect on our stewardship of indigenous legacies, our way forward to deeper understanding is clear.

Si, no se me ha ocurrido otro título mejor, qué le vamos a hacer 😂😂. Vamos al lío. Allá que aparecimos @zetaerreargazkiak y yo de noche, con los frontales y sus haces de luz atravesando la intensa niebla. Niebla, vamos bien. Llegamos al bosque, todo perfecto. Plantamos el trípode, cámara, volvemos a mirar… y la niebla???. Se había esfumado. Vamos mal 😂😂. Aun así fue un disfrute andar levitando por ese precioso manto, intentando no pisar o estropear lo menos posible el ya por si frágil bosque. Esto último creo que lo conseguimos. En cuanto a la foto, me costó muchísimo buscar algo original. Lo que intenté, como siempre, fue buscar profundidad, dividiendo la foto en tres. Un primer plano con esa planta solitaria, el plano medio, con los narcisos como protagonistas y el fondo por donde entraría la luz y las hayas zombies para cerrar la foto. Espero al menos que os parezca original.

Llegar a Espinosa un poco mas tarde de las 17:15, mirar al cielo y salir corriendo sin tiempo de pensar a dónde ir. Apostar todo al rosa y llegar con el tiempo justo para plantar el trípode y tirar esta panorámica y un par de ellas más por eso de “poraiaca”. Con la luna asomando por Espinosa (el punto blanco q se ve entre las montañas) y las nubes cogiendo color justo en el lugar exacto.

Cropped in 16:9 and my latest background image for my desktop is this shot from Port Fairy. Such a beautiful town, one which I really enjoy visiting, not just for taking photos but for all the wonderful restaurants, cafe’s and pubs and activities on offer. Tried to limit the movements in the boats, although still get a nice reflections in the water with this long exposure.

The sound is deafening. It gives an impression if i am already within the fall.

We are getting water splashes and one more step or two, and my lens is all wet.

We friends are yelling to communicate, this is fabulous. The one more step idea is a fail as this is the camera lens gear safe limit. Its the cold season and none of us dare to take a bath as well :D

Photographing the homeless: Exploitative vs Respect? The assumption is that if you’re in public, if you’re on a public street, then you’ve essentially given implicit consent to be observed. The difficulty with that is, for those who have no choice but to be in public, consent to be observed is not implicit. There’s nowhere else to go. They can’t revoke that consent because they can’t go inside.

But at the same time you should remember this one thing: you’re taking a photo. Photography isn’t a crime and in some ways you’re documenting life as it happens. Documenting life isn’t a crime or exploitive. If you go around creating a body of work showing off the crazy times that we live in, then that is simply nothing more than that.

The Lockheed Hudson general reconnaissance bomber first flew on 10 December 1938, and was the military version of the Lockheed 14 Super Electra which, in turn, was derived from the Lockheed 10 Electra. Later in 1938, the Hudson was ordered for the RAAF and the first aircraft, A16-1, was received at No 2 Aircraft Depot on 9 February 1940, and the last, A16-247, on 20 May 1942.

By August 1940, Hudsons of Nos 1 and 8 Squadrons had deployed to Malaya and these aircraft made the first RAAF retaliative missions against the Japanese on 8 December 1941. Hudsons continued to strike back during the following months of adversity and wreaked tremendous damage on enemy ships and landing forces. In the Pacific area, Hudsons served with Nos 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 23, 24, 25, 32 and 38 Squadrons, while RAF-serialled Hudsons operated with No 459 RAAF Squadron in the Middle East. With the introduction of Beauforts, the Hudsons were gradually relegated to communication and training duties.

RAAF Hudsons included Mks I, II, III and IV. Mks I and II had different airscrews, and the Mk I carried a spinner. Mk IIIs were fitted with 1200 hp Wright Cyclones, and carried an additional ventral gun and two beam guns; Mk IVs were fitted with 1050 hp Pratt and Whitney Wasps. One all-silver Hudson, A16-142, was conspicuous during the war years, and another, A16-214, was used for airborne lifeboat experiments.
