This is a previously unposted picture taken in the year that Shorties were prevalent at a Manitoba location in late December.
I was absolutely thrilled to see this beautiful Short-eared Owl. This one sat calmly on the post for a few minutes and was not bothered by the camera clicks. They are more active around sunset and this photo was taken during the golden hour. A very special sighting for me and a great Christmas present.
On that note, I will be off posting on Flickr until about the end of the year and wish everyone a wonderful Christmas holiday.
Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
Like many of our owl species, the prevalence of Shorties varies considerably from year-to-year. The usual start of the season is about a month away.
One of my contacts (Charlotte Hedman) was saying on one of her resent posts that she had a file on her computer with over a 1000 images that were destined for Flickr, but she had never posted. I said I had a Flickr file with the same sort of number. She said, post some, as I would like to see them. I said, pick a number between 1 and 1000........ this is the number Charlotte came back with..... 565
A good vintage 2015, I was at my prime LOL
I could see this concept working quite well, as I'm sure lots of people have the same sort of folder with un-posted images !!!
